I use Spotify on my iPhone, PC and Macbook. Would be grateful for a solution on any of the 3 platforms
My Question or Issue
Is there any way I can block a song from ever being recommended? Like if I enhance a playlist and then hide songs I don't like, if I then listen to another playlist, I end up having to hide many of the same songs all over again. And any time I take a playlist off shuffle and take away the recommendations, whenever I enhance the playlist again all the same songs I've already hidden in the past come back and I need to hide them all over again.
So is there anyway to just block a song completely from ever being recommended?
Thanks.

This is not a solution. I do not ever want to her certain songs ever again. Not after 30 days, never ever ever ever again. True loathing.
you know some people have truly traumatic experiences with certain songs?
Not allowing us to block them is truly awful and short sighted. Lack of quality of life. Spotify really never listens to years long user suggestions, do they?
"That being said, we also hear you that hiding a particular song means you don't want to hear it ever again"
Yes, I never want to hear, "I'm Good (Blue)", ever ever again. I would greatly appreciate Spotify adding this feature.
I dislike your answer so much, I'm considering switching to SoundCloud instead. Stop patronizing your users. If we don't like a song we don't EVER want to hear it on a platform that we pay for.
I don't want to be able to 'snooze a track for 30 days' - I want to REMOVE this track from my Spotify existence. Forever.
The fact that this suggestion has been one of the highest requests since Spotify broke out - and it's still not an option in ***2025*** - means you're not paying attention to your users.
Hey Ivelina,
I don't just want to block certain songs. I also want to bloc certain artists. Why is this feature so hidden and difficult to find? This is not user friendly.
Hey Ivelina,
Thank you for the feedback and clarification, but I think I speak for most when I say that the “snooze for 30 days” approach actually misses the point of what people are asking for.
If I hide a song, it’s not because I want to hide it from one specific playlist or need a temporary break, it’s because I genuinely don’t ever want to hear that song again. Reintroducing it after 30 days is not going to make me think, "OH! An unexpected reunion!". Actually, the opposite. Because, from a user’s perspective, this isn’t friendly, it’s entirely frustrating. It also undermines trust in personalization by suggesting Spotify’s priorities are more about forcing certain songs/artists back into rotation than respecting listener control.
Discovery should be about surfacing new music I might love, not about testing whether I’ve changed my mind on a track I already said I don’t like. The same goes for “Suggestions based on your current playlist.” I’ve stopped using that feature entirely because, even with playlists containing 300–500 different artists/songs to draw from, I almost always get served the same 5-10 artists/songs within the first 20 suggestions.
A true user-first solution would allow both options: a permanent block for songs I never want to hear again, and a snooze for when I just need a breather. That would keep artist/song discovery flexible without turning “hide” into a revolving door of madness.
If you could pass this feedback along, it would be greatly appreciated!
Why is the only option that's easily accessible a 30 day snooze? It would be far preferable to add a little box to that 30 day pop up where I can select "never again, I really truly to my core despise this song and I promise that my life would be better if this ad l awful song never played on my account again" option? There are songs that I hate and have been clicking the "x" on monthly, but Spotify seems determined to jam them down my throat every 30 days. Make it easy for me to permanently eliminate songs I despise please!
I cannot believe your response is considered a "solution"! All you are really saying is "like it or not we're not listening to the paying subscribers who literally pay Ivalena's paycheck". This is pathetic and not acceptable.
