I just wonder why you have to get songs censored the way you do? You literally destroy many songs with that. Maybe cursing doesn't sound so nice, but if you don't like the song they curse on, WHY do you listen to it?
I, as myself, don't care about the cursing but like to listen to the songs meaning. If a rapper made a song with meaning, but had cursing as a way to express himself, you should look at the meaning not the cursing. Maybe you can't find the meaning but that is YOUR problem. Seriously, when a song you like, gets bugged up with suddenly silent moments that doesn't fit in at all... YOU should know what I mean....

I also will no longer be using Spotify due to this issue. I have switched to Google Play Music All Access, which has the same policy of allowing both clean and explicit versions of songs, but provides a much more streamlined interface to access both versions of the song, on both desktop and mobile.
I really enjoyed Spotify, except for this one major (ultimately, deal breaking) inconvenience. I wish the company would have been more open with their responses and considered the feedback community (you know, their customers) gave them.
Really Spotify? You really can't add a regular expression that looks for "***" or "censored", and another one that looks for "explicit", and then let users opt out of songs that match? Really? Because I could write that regular expression in like five minutes, and if I had access to your codebase I could implement a feature like that in a day or two. It might not be perfect, but it would be vastly superior to your current complete lack of a feature.
It seems like the real reason is that you just don't give a *censored* what your users want. Or you're just completely incompetent; either way it's very disappointing (and I'm going to go checkout Google now, thanks justin000).
Spotify does not censor music. There is more than one version, if there isnt the record label didnt issue one.

I prefer that they offer clean versions of the song because I work for a radio station and would like to trust that the clean version of a song is ok for radio play. Regardless of the artists meaning, it can still be expressed without profanity for more listeners to enjoy and be introduced to over the radio airwaves.
Huh? You are playing over the airwaves of your radio station you work at? What listening region are you in?
I wish spotify would do something similar to Netflix: have an option when you log in for a kid friendly version of spotify, and then have an unrated option as well. I feel like this would make things a lot simpler in the future.
Ok, fine. Spotify doesn't censor the music. GOT IT.
However, there are 2 years worth of posts on this thread asking that something be done about this aggrevation. Spotify has been UPDATED and UPDATED and UPDATED and UPDATED.
PLEASE. Add a filter that allows users to filter out censored albums! It's so frustrating to listen to an artist's page and get the incomplete (censored) version of a favorite song...
I'm begging you. Spotify is amazing and I try to convert everyone I talk to. Make it that much better by adding this feature.
Thanks
I am also thinking about cancelling due to this. I recently started listening to some of the old rap music I used to be into only to come to find out that some of the songs I want to listen to, you only have the clean version. I tried looking for the explicit verson and cannot find it, only clean version. Example Gravy by UGK.
Hey there.
Why little piece of handsup and dancecore tracks are censored? I want to hear everything!!! I don't give a what about these bleeps, but this tuut sound is really annoying. Please let me hear!
"Tomtrax... Remix! Everlasting... Face down, hands up, dancecore is like a f##k!"
Please producers, labels and Spotify, upload explicit versions in first place!
Thanks!!!
Hey there.
I can't hear clearly what Tomtrax track is saying in this part, so I contacted Tomtrax. It goes this way in track.
It's still bad as one word is censored!!!
Face down, hands up, thats the way we like to f##k!
Adding my voice here because of a lingering major issue related to this topic:
The inability to set a default version for Radio
What is needed here is a preference setting that simply plays Explicit (if available) or Clean (if available).
This hinges on, I assume, the fact that spofity will choose the clean version by default (if available). The result is on radio that if you hear one clean version track, you will NEVER hear the explicit version of that whole album on that station.
This has nothing to do with Spotify censoring anything! It's a UI issue, and boy would I love to see it fixed. There are a few idea threads that potentially relate to this that everyone should kudos:

Dear Spotify,
There is something indeed wrong here... Songs that I once had in my playlist are still there, but now they are EDITED/censored (some of them at least).
New songs released by the industry have been released EDITED (censored) and that's how they are released to spotify now. I am sorry but if I am paying $10 a month, I want the full unedited version of ANY song. I am unfortunately considering canceling my membership ONLY because of this reason.
If I want to listen to hip hop, I want to hear EVERYTHING. Let me know when you guys decide to distribute the real version of music.
Thank you
Jude,
I certainly understand that Spotify doesn't censor the music, but is there any way to alter a setting to remove censored or "clean" versions of songs from being available to my specific Spotify account? It's slightly irritating at times when you are listening to a radio station or shuffling an artist's full list of albums/songs, only to get censored versions in the mix.
I get that this is probably a fairly complicated request to complete from a design/implementation standpoint on the backend, but I think that if implemented, very many users, myself included, would use this feature, and be much happier about their Spotify experience.
Thoughts?
I am really angry about this situation. I had a large group of explicit albums in a lot of playlists, and suddenly Spotify changed them to edited, I tried looking for the explicit versions but for many there are none.
It's incredible that in 2015 there are still people who can impose this kind of policies.
This particular album was removed and replaced for the edited version. (I am in the PC).
said dulpicate arrow does not appear to exist! do you have a screenshot? I can't find a way to not have the GD censored version of my perferred music. Also, have had original versions of albums to come back later to find they have been replaced with the more, ahem, cuddly version!!! What the duck?
