Request about missing albums on Spotify

Request about missing albums on Spotify

Hello,

I would like to ask if there is a way to submit requests or claims to bring back albums that have disappeared from Spotify.

I aknowledge that it depends on licence owners, but it lacks a bit of transparency ain't it ?

If Spotify cannot directly restore them, is there perhaps a tool or resource that helps identify and contact the current record label or rights holder of a missing album? Since music rights are often sold and transferred over time, it can be very difficult for listeners to find out who owns them.

For some cases, owners are easy to find as they are mentionned in the application/web player. For example, looking at the album "Secrets" by "Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson" (1978), the last owner is mentionned as "Passion Music ltd" (Since 2009). Now they seem to hold a Facebook page but nothing tells me its official, their last post is from 2018, they do not seem to be active anymore here. There seems to be a go.uk site with informations about them but no contact link...
There also seems to be a site called ascap, dedicated to owner rights but still no contact. No contact on discogs neither...

The other websites seems to have no relation to the right Passion Music Ltd.
Location is either "The Milking Parlour Hurst Farm, Dairy Lane, Crockham Hill, Kent, United Kingdom, TN8 6RA" or "Ground Floor, Southon House, Station Approach, EDENBRIDGE" based on discogs or gov.uk...

Do I have to send them a letter to contact them ? Why can't I find an email or even a phone number ???

Thank you in advance for your help and any guidance you can provide!

Best regards,

Hey there @thibaultm, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I do understand your concern as there are a few titles that I used to listen to on Spotify that are now no longer available. On the flip side, there are a few titles that were previously not available that are now available on the platform. Spotify wants all the world’s music and podcasts available, but availability can vary over time and between countries, depending on the permissions from rights holders.

More info about this can be found here.
Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.

I've been visiting many posts here, and in some of them someone is giving this link.
The link is not of any help. If you read my post you can notice this sentence: "I aknowledge that it depends on licence owners". So there was no reason to share this link as it gives no answers to any of my questions.

I'm not asking for a nifty answer, or and easy-to-go alternative to listen to the music I want.
I want the tools, weapons, knowledge to dig, fight, overtake the situation. I want to be heard by the staff and the licence owner who should help their Users.

And even if its not a piece of cake, I want people/listeners to be able to have an active influence on the content available.

If there are absolutly no tools, no way to contact a license owner, then just say "You can't" or "We are not the ones contacting licence owners, they do" or "We do have archives about when and why this album stopped being available on our platform but are not willing to share any of the informations it contains due to law".

Sometimes accepting your lack of power/admitting your inability to be of any use is the answer.

Thank you again. But please take in consideration that I already took some time searching, analysing, trying to solve the problem. And that receiving a link to an FaQ already shared in the community is a bit frustrating...

Best regards.
