Reason for Leaving Spotify

I am deeply disappointed with Spotify’s handling of playlist curation, bot-driven streaming manipulation, and the platform’s apparent complicity in unethical practices.

Bot-Generated Streams & Fraudulent Playlist Inclusions
Many artists and producers, particularly in Turkey’s rap scene (e.g., Ebo and others), artificially boost their streams using bots. These fraudulent practices not only distort genuine artist rankings but also contribute to illicit financial activities, including potential terrorism financing. Spotify’s failure to curb such manipulation raises serious ethical concerns.

Biased & Low-Quality Playlist Curation
Playlist curation at Spotify is dictated by the personal preferences of certain employees rather than objective musical merit. This leads to subpar music being pushed while quality artists remain undiscovered, degrading the user experience.

By continuing to ignore these problems, Spotify is fostering a corrupt music industry that rewards deception over talent. I can no longer support a platform that allows such unethical and potentially criminal behavior to thrive.

Thus, I am canceling my subscription and will be using alternative music services.
