Spotify forgets where it was up to in a playlist

My Question or Issue

Spotify is forgetting which song I was up to in a playlist, even when reopening the App in less than an hour later. 

For eg. I start listening to my Discover Weekly playlist, get up to song 5. Then I close Spotify, then open it again after some time & one of two issues happen: It goes back to song 1, or it continues from song 5, but then after a few songs, it returns to song 5, completely forgetting the rest of the playlist.

This is seriously ruining the whole experience.

I’ve tried logging out, restarting my device, logging back in, but it still happens.

Thanks for the post.

The Spotify app doesn't remember your position in a playlist/ album. When you minimize the app or close it permanently, your progress will be lost after some time, depending on your device.

We'd suggest you add your +Vote this Idea if you want this to change.

Hi Alex,

I’m sure Spotify was remembering my place in playlists, even the next day. 

This started happening about a month ago. Before then, it was all good & certainly wasn’t returning to the initial track played or the 1st track in the playlist before it played the rest of the playlist.
