Get Raspberry Pi read & play a Spotify URL

Hi there,

I am completely new to Raspberry Pi and I'm playing with it for a project. 

The idea is the following:

- Person A sends remotely a Spotify link via MQTT to Raspberry Pi

- Raspberry Pi reads and plays the song

It seems fairly simple but I'm not sure how to get the 'reads & plays' bit. Thanks for any help, advice!

Something like that will probably never happen. Spotify does not even officially support Linux on x86_64. If you were proficient in Rust you could probably hack something together with librespot.  In it's default state it can turn a Raspberry Pi into a Spotify Connect device. It does not work with free accounts though.
