Linux: Spotify + Memory Issues??

I'm using Spotify on Linux (Ubuntu) and after a while of playing, my system slows down to an almost unresponsive point. I've been googling and read about htop, which I've run and I now see that over ~two hours of music playing, my swap memory amount gets completely maxed out. However, the bar above it shows my overall memory usage being ~65%. Can someone explain why this is a problem and how to fix it?

Same here, just now spotify would use over 75 % of memory according to htop, some times one process runs 116 %, which is amazing..

I have killed spotify few times as it used all ram and swap... on the 4th try it is runing fine.. ram 5.4%.

Though I have switched Settings/Display options/show friend feed off, so not sure if that helped...
