Local files don't play

Hello Yesterday I was a free user but I decided today to suscibre to premium because Spotify is the only music service with a linux client. Mys OS is Xubuntu 16.10 and the Spotify client has been installed yesterday, I dont find the way to find the version.

I have solved my previous issue but I have a new one. My local files imported in the Spotifly Linux Client do not play : either there is a error message saying that I should locate the file or the notification display the music played but no sound play and the sound app does not disqplay any application making sound.

This is a known bug. The current version of Spotify unfortunately requires old versions of libavformat and libavcodec that are no longer in Ubuntu. You might be able to install them from the Ubuntu 14.04 repository by typing these commands in a terminal, which will add the old repository, install the old libraries and then remove the old repository.

echo deb http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty main universe | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/temp-trusty.list
echo deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty-security main universe | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/temp-trusty.list
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libavcodec54 libavformat54
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/temp-trusty.list
sudo apt update

This workaround works on Ubuntu 16.04, but I have not tried it with 16.10.

July 2017, Linux Mint 18.2 x64 Cinnamon, Spotify ver 1.0.55.487.g256699aa and the issue is still there. Following the steps outlined by Jooon fixed the issue for me.
