Open Spotify URIs on Linux with xdg-open

Hi Spotify Community,

I use the Spotify client for Linux, which is working great by now, thanks for that! A feature, I would like to be improved, would be to open Spotify URIs from a Browser or a chat client so that they can be opened with xdg-open.

Currently, that is working improperly, as xdg-open already opens Spotify, but Spotify opens another window and does not browse to the resource submitted, but to the Home site. Could that feature be improved, please?
