My Question or Issue
I've been playing around with Spotify's dbus integration, and I've noticed the Position and Volume values are always 0. I was able to find some old threads (and by old, I mean 2015 old) by other users noticing the same, which were told that proper dbus integration was on the to-do list but simply not as important (which I can understand). Where do we stand 3 years later? Is this still being looked in to?
Hey @aetheryx, welcome to the Community!
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this.
We don't officially support Spotify on Linux, so there are some features of the app that probably haven't been updated.
For now, you can try logging out and back in to see if it helps. If not, it'd be best to try a clean reinstall.
Let us know how it goes.
Relogging and reinstalled achieved nothing, but I didn't expect it to. I'm not sure if you're fully understanding my question - the Spotify client simply lacks the support for the full mpris spec, jooon had made this clear two years ago (https://community.spotify.com/t5/forums/forumtopicprintpage/board-id/desktop_linux/message-id/4420/p...) mentioning that there is no ETA. My goal with this post is knowing whether the circumstances on having an ETA have changed since then or if proper mpris support has moved up the list whatsoever.
Hey @aetheryx.
Thanks for getting back to us.
At the moment, we don't have any info about MPRIS2 support. If there's an update in the future, it'll be posted on the forum or the news page.
All the best.
Open source your client and I'd be glad to fix your MPRIS implementation...
It would be nice to see full support for the REQUIRED parts of the Player interface.
