Spotify Connect on Raspberry Pi 2 using Volumio

Spotify Connect on Raspberry Pi 2 using Volumio

Hi,

i wanted to install Spotify connect on my Raspberry running Volumio.

There is a nice step by step instruction for that right here (in german):

http://powerpi.de/spotify-connect-auf-dem-raspberry-pi-2-installieren-dein-smartphone-ist-die-fernbe...

To do that i have to request an application key for that, right here:

https://developer.spotify.com/technologies/libspotify/application-keys/

Unfortunately they won't send me that key and after contacting costumer service they told me that they don't give any keys out anymore and that Linux is not supported.

So i wanted to ask, is there any way for me to get Spotify Connect running on my Raspberry using Volumio 1.55?

Thank you!

Greetings, Armin

You've probably found a soultion by now, but if you haven't there is a plugin that works beautifully (volspotconnect2) made by Balbuze. It uses Librespot to connect, so you need premium or family. I've been using it for months but two days ago, Spotify decided to block it. Keep an eye on it to see how they walk around any possible limitations, I'm sure it will work again soon.

PS: Not cool, Spotify!

Thanks for your answer!

I was also using volspotconnect2 and it was working perfectly until... well someone at spotify decited to block it. (Seriously, whyyy?)

Haven't tried to update it yet, maybe its working again... Will do that soon...

What's odd forme is that i can spotify-connect to volumio with my iPad's spotify app but not my android's

volspotconnect2 has been updated to 0.4.0 and happily working again 😉
