So I found something weird today. I was listening to one of my playlists and a song didn't quite sound right. I went back and listened again and surely enough it's a different version. A subtly different, but definitely different version (some lyrics are removed and it's about 30 seconds shorter). The song is "What A Catch, Donnie" by Fall Out Boy. If you fast forward to about 4 minutes, there use to be some lyrics there that went "where is your married man, I hope he is a gentleman, maybe he won't find out (fade) we're going down down and running around". And now it fades much sooner, and the words after aren't there.
I could also tell more subtle differences in some other songs, like Bed by Brand New. The words are the same there, but it sounds remixed, like the treble is turned down or something. Definitely different, but can't quite put my finger on why.
Anyway, I'm using the Spotify Linux client and streaming. I have these songs saved to an offline playlist on my phone. I listened to the version on my phone and it's still the old original version, so I'm not crazy.
What is this!? Why has my music been changed(in my opinion for the worse)?!
I just installed the android app this afternoon and played around with it. Tried listening to radio stations 70's and 80's for a bit. Hmm that doesn't sound right at all. Dug up a few original CD's and it's confirmed. The songs you are offering are not even close to the originals. Missing lyrics, shortened versions, all sorts of nonsense. Activated the free 7 day trial and that made no difference. Disappointed.
It's also on Blackpinks 'Boombayah'. I noticed it right away, because the first verse starts with "Click clack badda bing badda boom", then should go into the korean... but it continued in english??? It sounds weird and strange and i dont like it
Same here! This morning when "Come on to me" by Major Lazer came on with changed lyrics I thought I was having a psychotic episode caused by sleep deprivation. Then I thought the app was glitching. Turns out the version of the song on Lazer's Greatest Hits album is still the same.
this happens on the song humble by kendrick lamar and the race by tay k, but i dont know why they do that, it's very strange though 😕

This just happened to one of my artist's songs. I recently submitted the song to a DJ to be streamed on a site; he put his tag at the intro of the beginning of the original song. Now, when the song is played on Spotify, his tag is there...??? How does this even happen? I'm thinking since the song was streamed by users on the site so many times within a short period of time (over 45,000 streams in under 7 days), that the ISRC was somehow warped. (Idk. I'm not a tech guy, but I've seen a few episodes of Tron.) I'm curious to see what effects this will have and will find out how and if the original song can be replaced.
I just had a Russian song changed to the english version. Would be nice if Spotify stop doing this.
Ok, but is there any solution?
I have the problem with Nothing But Thieves - Particles... On an iPhone, there is clean version, but on a macbook pro, there is version from youtube, with some comments. I hate it -_-
"Unforgettable" by Thomas Rhett just changed to some faster, pop version sung by a different guy. How is this not a copyright infringement, Spotify?
Ive had this problem with "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men. The version that spotify plays is entirely different to the radio and itunes/google play versions. It uses an acoustic band and when i imported the version i bought from Google play (which sounded normal as well) it converted that into the alternate version on spotify as well even though they were 2 different songs
I found the FIX for this. It's actually a problem caused by a conflict by local and streaming songs.
To fix it:
You're good to go. Have a great day.
THANK YOU!!! IT WORKS!!! 🙂
Thank you very much.
Glad I've helped you 🙂
I also have this problem, I was listening to All The Stars, from Kendrick Lamar and SZA, and I noticed it was different from the one in the movie. They took out words from a whole part and put in different words. Plz fix this!!!!
sorry, but it didn't work for me, do you know any other ways??
thank you ! 😄
Yeah it happened to me with these girls by Why Don't We when the beat starts playing at the start it like, wasn't the same..
