I've recently ran into issues running spotify on my Ubuntu 14.04LTS installation, it had started randomly and I do believe that I had not done any updates before hand to start the cause of the errors
I ran: spotify &>> spotify.txt
I have pasted all to a paste bin (Click Me)
When the crash happens all I do is open spotify and after a 10 or so seconds it will crash causing my Ubuntu to start over again, where I have to log back in.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Installing my GPU drivers again has seemed to solve this for now. Haven't has chance to do some proper tests.
Just to make sure I followed a guide, listed bellow on the installation of Nvidia drivers for Ubuntu 14.04.
Lastest Nvidia Drivers Linux (Click Me)
Only took 5 minutes to do. I would say that's... rather simple? wouldn't you? ![]()
I cannot seem to understand, why out of no where that it decided to stop working, I had not installed any drivers to cause this issue. Unless it's something in a recent Spotify patch that had caused this, I do not know.
If I go for the last line error (1), it leads me to (2): a crash known in July 2014
1. Did you change recently something with your graphics driver?
2. Which spotify version are you running?
3. Can you check in your spotify settings if you have an option to enable/disable hardware acceleration (or any other video related stuff you can see)
(1)
(2) https://awesome.naquadah.org/bugs/index.php?do=details&task_id=1277
1) I have not, maybe I could update my drivers?
2) Spotify Version:
spotify-client:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1:0.9.17.1.g9b85d43.7-1
Version table:
1:0.9.17.1.g9b85d43.7-1 0
500 http://repository.spotify.com/ stable/non-free amd64 Packages
3) I have tried disabling hardware acceleration and it didn't make any difference, still crashes the same.
If I should try updating my graphics driver, any way of doing it that you would recommend?
I have:
product: GF117M [GeForce 610M/710M/820M / GT 620M/625M/630M/720M]
product: 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller
610M
updating drivers: perhaps that could solve it, who knows
BUT: I'd first search the web for the error again in details, who knows, someone might have found an easier "solution" for this?
