Cannot log in to Mac player

Cannot log in to Mac player

I created a new account with a gmail alias (myname+spotify@gmail.com) because my wife took over my original Spotify account years ago and I don't want to make her change. This account is working in that I can log in to the web player, but I cannot log in to the stand-alone app with this account on my Mac (username or password incorrect, error code 3). I have reset the password to this account, tried using the username without the @gmail.com to no avail.

Thanks. I found that thread before posting here and that was what got me to try logging in with username only and reset my password. No dice in either case.

I can't figure out what's going on.
