Constant loading issues and crashing issues in Mac OS X native app

Constant loading issues and crashing issues in Mac OS X native app

Surely I can't be alone with this issue... Every time I go to open the Spotify Mac OS X native app it opens the application in seconds but then just doesn't load any of the content, so I can't see or play tracks, search, or do anything really. Then, if I close the application down it sort of closes, but then crashes. A force quit is required to get the application to fully close.

If I then open the application again it sometimes works perfect after, or it takes a another one or two force quits/restarts to get it to actually load content. I'm not having any other problems with any other applications on this Mac and I have a very strong Internet connection. I'm just getting a little bored of it taking multiple attempts to actually get it to work.

Anyone else experiencing this problem or know of a solution? I'm running Mac OS X Yosaemite 10.10.3 and the latest update of Spotify. I have tried completely removing the application and re-installing it and that didn't resolve the problem.

While I'm here... Why doesn't Spotify have a better customer service system? Even for Premium members like myself. I'm paying for a service which I see is basically unsupporting. Their 'Help' section has an article on 'contacting Spotify' and then explains that they know it's "sometimes good to talk things over" but then advises you to sign up to the community forums. Rant over.

Any assistance on this would be appreciated!

Sounds strange.. What model of mac are you using?

Can you please open up the terminal and run the command "/Applications/Spotify.app/Contents/MacOS/Spotify" (without ""). This will start Spotify as well as give you a console output of whats going on. Paste the output to pastebin.com and we'll see if that gives us any clues on the matter.

Also, try the solution suggested in this thread: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Mac-Windows/OSX-blank-black-screen/td-p/880541

Have you also tried deleting the Spotify cache folders too?

Try a clean reinstall of Spotify to see if this fixes the problem:

Advanced method:
https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/reinstallation-of-spotify

Easy method:
Download this free app cleaner. It's super easy.

http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

When you open up the app, search for Spotify and it will automatically find and delete all files on your computer related to Spotify.

I use it all the time and it's a really great tool. If you ever decide to uninstall an app, the best way is to use this tool.

After that, download and reinstall Spotify.
