My Question or Issue

Hi, Spotify is constantly using up 100% CPU. I've followed the instructions in the other threads, almost all options are turned off (hardware accelleration, etc).

To make things easier, I will list all settings that are turned ON, all the rest ist turned OFF:

Allow explicit rated content

see what your friends are playing

publish my new playlists

block all cookies.

I've cleared the cache, I've re-installed.

It's very annoying to constantly hear the fan when just writing stuff in my browser and listening to some music... it's also at 100% CPU when no music is playing.

Also, it always hangs when I quit the application: it always needs to be force quit.

Hi there @HarrisonFooord,

Thanks for the post.

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear about that. I'd recommend the following:

Go to Settings > toggle 'Show Local Files' on > toggle off all the sources that appear there (Downloads, My Music, and other) > toggle 'Show Local files' back to OFF. After that close the Spotify app and restart your computer.

This is a known issue with MacOS Catalina, as the app is trying to scan your device's music folders for local files, it starts using a lot of the computer's resources.

Keep us posted if the issue disappears after that.
