Local File Podcast?

Local File Podcast?

I have about 12 hours of podcasts saved to local files as mp3's. Is there some way to get Spotify to recognize them as podcasts instead of regular songs? I use Spotify for multiple things so not being able to save my place in a 6 hour podcast makes the service borderline unusable for this purpose. Is there a workaround?

Hey @TRhalter

The Spotify app sees local files as songs. Local Files support was added before Spotify added streaming for podcasts.

The best workaround would be to create a playlist called "Podcasts" or similar and add them to the playlist to keep track of them.

Hi there,

I have the same problem.

Lots of podcasts as local files -> cannot play them on any other device than the computer they are stored on.

I renamed the playlist "podcasts" but nothing happened.

Is there really no way to sync it with my phone and other laptop?

All I can see on those devices is an empty playlist 😕

Thanks!

Hey @gabriella_m

To get the songs on your other computer you would need to copy them over and import them.

To get them in the Spotify mobile app:

  1. Open the Spotify mobile app on the same WiFi network as your desktop app.
  2. Select the playlist containing the local files.
  3. Switch on Download.
  4. They should sync over
