Spotify opens automatically on login even when this option is disabled

Have turned off the setting 'Open Spotify automatically after you login to the computer' as described here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/FAQs/How-do-I-stop-Spotify-from-opening-automatically-on-my-desktop...

However, this does nothing. Each time I log on, Spotify opens up, like some piece of shoddy malware (which I'm actually paying for).

Spotify devs: please sort this out.

Hi @mdj2, thanks for writing.

On your Mac, please try going to System Preferences - User and Groups - Login Items - and remove Spotify from the list (if it is there).

Change Spotify Settings
Click “Show Advanced Settings” near the bottom of the “Settings” page. Look for the section called “Startup and Window Behavior.” Select “No” from the drop-down options for “Open Spotify automatically after you log into the computer.”

It's magically started working properly without me doing anything. Perhaps it just needed the machine to be restarted a couple of times? Seems very odd!
