Hello! Welcome to the community!
Looks like you can only bring it back if you closed it with the little X button (indicated by the green arrow on the picture). Quitting Spotify from the menu bar and re-launching should make it appear again.
If you closed it with the "skip" arrow (orange marker on the picture), it will only re-appear when there are new people to follow.
I honestly don't know why the widget has this strange behavior, but I guess that's just how it works.
