Unable to remove songs from Discover Weekly

Solved!

Unable to remove songs from Discover Weekly

I'm on the premium plan, using the Windows desktop app version of Spotify.  I'm trying to remove a song from my Discover Weekly playlist, since it's been there before and I didn't think much of it the first time.  The button to do this has been removed.  I can find old posts explaining where it is, and it's not there any more.  How do I remove this song from my playlist?

Oh great, I just realised that there is an AI song on my Discover Weekly with AI generated cover art and a fake bio of a person who doesnt exist. Nevermind the fact that the song is ear-piercingly bad and doesnt even fit the genre it says it is.

So thats why you removed the hide song button. This is the direction you are taking the company. great!

We can confirm that the Hide this song feature in Discover Weekly is no longer available on the desktop app and web player. You can still find it in the mobile app.

Who was the genius UX/UI Designer who propose that?? How do I feed my Discover Weekly?? Man fire that UX/UI guy that purpose that stupid change. It doesn't have any sense.

Well I really hate this "feature"

I think this isn't a feature, but some bug that keeps reemerging from some reason. The sad thing is, that no one from Spotify bothered to show up here and say "we are working on it". Without it, we only complain and pointlessly speculate.

"We can confirm that the Hide this song feature in Discover Weekly is no longer available on the desktop app and web player. You can still find it in the mobile app.

We’re always testing possible improvements and new features, so you might see something new or sometimes like this case, features might be removed." - Spotify

Maybe do some due diligence before throwing around accusations of people pointlessly complaining and speculating. It's pretty clear people are responding to this particular message so not sure how you missed that.

Insanity to not hotfix a crucial feature back in. Literally bricked my ability to use spotify weekly since there is some SCUM song that starts with a radio warning broadcast full clip. Cant even report it. great reason to cancel my longest running subscription though, maybe I can bother coming back if its fixed.

This is stupid.  I can't use Discovery Weekly if I can't train the algorithm. As it is now, I dislike MOST of the songs in there.  Stupid.  Please add thumb down, minus, dislike buttons throughout the app.  It's as important as like buttons.

Right now on Desktop, you can no longer hide songs from your Discover Weekly playlist. This change is temporary and we're working on having consistent hide functionality across playlists and devices.

So this isn't a bug?  What a stupid change.  If you're working on making a consistent hide functionality across playlists and devices then why remove the existing Hide option for Discover Weekly before your other feature was ready?

Your original statement clearly said otherwise:

"We’re always testing possible improvements and new features, so you might see something new or sometimes like this case, features might be removed."

Although you'll never admit it, nor do we expect you to, I'm sure everyone here is glad that this "testing the waters" malarkey on selective users has been recinded so I appreciate you listening to our feedback and hope this extremely useful feature is reimplemented quickly.

Does Spotify know that you're leaving and that this is the reason?  I'm
trying to get them to realize how many people are annoyed by this new
change.

Best, Debi

Wow, yes, I add my voice to the chorus that wants the hide function back. Are you listening?

Interesting!
How did you find this? What gave it away?

I don't understand what you are asking.  On Monday morning the minus
sign was missing for the first time since I've been using Spotify for years.

Best, Debi

There are things where you do not need to "test waters" ever. Bring back this function. Users are searching gold by narrowing list. This should be absolutely obvious.

i have the same problem, dislike button not appering on pc, on cellphone still available . version 1.2.53.440

That is a terrible decision! My god, the suggestions have been getting worse and worse!

Never have been here, first comment, but I had to. Removing the button is just ridiculous. How is it possible anyone could even had this idea, and no one stopped this, and it went all the way through implementation and deployment? I am stopping paying for Spotify until this feature is back as it is the main reason I pay for this.

habe genau das gleiche problem jetzt in 2025 aber nur auf Windows App und Web auf Android und IOS ist er noch da...

The problem still exists. Do you really need more than two months to resolve it?

I don't get it. It worked fine before. Heck, it was better when it was on the playerbar in an accessible way and it was on more of the generated playlists. I get it, your UX designers need some busy work and decided to ruin a good thing just for the sake of change. Now it's just gone instead of...you know...building out the replacement functionality and only merging it in after the defined work is done and any blockers are resolved.

This is no "internal change", you removed a feature. And I will stop my subscription in return because you made the last feature that kept me on Spotify useless (discovery weekly playlist).
