Lyrics Icon not showing up on PC

My Question or Issue

Starting from a while ago I noticed that the small microphone icon on the bottom right of the screen (Lyrics Icon) has gone missing. This issue only accurse on the Desktop App and not on the Web. I've tried reinstalling Spotify, logging out clearing cache, but nothing has seemed to help.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue and/or why this is happening?

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
 

We understand you've already reinstalled the app, but we'd recommend doing a clean reinstall following these steps. This is a more thorough process and sometimes helps. If that doesn't do the trick, send over a screenshot of your app. Additionally, try logging in with a different account and check if the lyrics show up from there. If you don't have another account, you can ask a friend or family member to log in with their account from your device to check.

Lastly, let us know if you see the Lyrics feature on the mobile app.

Same thing is happening to me.  I haven't tried reinstall yet but it was there before I went on vacation and is now gone.  I loved that feature so I hope this isn't a permanent thing. 😞

Ok, so I went back to the app and it's now there.  I think what's happening is that for a song w/o lyrics instead of still showing the icon and displaying "we don't have lyrics yet" or whatever it used to say the icon is just hidden.

Using version 1.2.30.1135.g02fef27aO on Windows 11 64 bit and the lyric button is no longer visible? Maybe it's moved in I just can't find it but I don't think so!

the lyrics mic icon is disabled for me for all songs in my laptop even though I have premium, I used to read lyrics when I had a free plan, I can read lyrics in my android mobile but not in my windows PC, please fix this ASAP

Thanks for posting in this thread!

@Smriti_Dubey - Kudos for the troubleshooting you've tried! Just to check, does it happen on all devices that you use Spotify on, or just with a specific one?

Also, do you notice any difference if use another internet connection? For example, if you're currently on 4G/5G, you can try WiFi.

It's also worth noting that some songs might not have lyrics available, as availability can vary over time, which means that the button to switch lyrics on won't appear when listening to those specific tracks.

Could you send us some screenshots of the song being played when the mic is greyed out on desktop? 
A link to the song would be useful too. We'd like to test this on our end as well 🙂 

We'd also like to know if this occurs for specific songs only and if the affected songs show lyrics on other platforms e.g. on mobile.

Microphone icon no longer lights up so I can't view lyrics. Display panel on right side of the screen no longer has option to view full video clip, only a partial clip on loop.

When is this getting solved? I contacted support about this months ago and nothing got fixed. Lyrics button is greyed out for all songs on my Windows pc but works as normal on my phone and laptop using Linux.

Hey folks,

Are you using VPN/proxy? If so, I'd suggest disabling it to see if that makes a difference. It's also worth flushing your DNS cache by following the steps below:

1. In Windows’ search bar, type “Command Prompt” and run it as an administrator.
2. Enter the following command: ipconfig /flushdns

If possible, check if connecting to another network alleviates the issue.

Why tf would that cause the lyrics to disappear? Stop giving random unrelated fixes and tell someone higher up that this needs to be fixed.
