Spotify Bugs causing computer to crash

I did not want to think it was true, but Spotify (as it is now) will cause your Computer to crash.

Today it happened twice. I had to do a system restore and and after a process of elimination it is the current free version that is the problem. Many and I do mean many bugs need to be worked out with the free version. I am gonna upgrade to a premium version to see if the same bugs are there. Instead of putting so much effort into continuing to get music to your servers (or whatever it is you doing, now). Your team needs to work on the code...Most user will be using the free version. This is a disappointment, because I like idea behind the app.

You can email for specifics, Spotify admin.

Sincerely

Just had a hunch and found this thread - i am having the same - editing photos etc whilst listening to spotify and get random crashes of machine where screen dies and have to hard reset the machine via the power plug socket - been going on for months & thought it was machine getting tired. Windows 7 - fairly good spec gaming type PC.

Confirm it's NOT about FREE version. I also had premium. The web app works so much better than the desktop app - doesn't even have a track number, what?!

Same here - 16GB RAM, SSD, i7, Win7 pro

Not good enough for Spot, apparently 😕

Definitely not limited to free subscriptions... I'm on premium, and my laptop (bought new last summer) was repeatedly crashing, seemingly for no reason. I uninstalled Spotify for a week and it didn't crash once. Reinstalled today and it crashed within an hour of listening to music (with nothing else running). Fairly good laptop too - Win10, Intel i5, 8GB RAM

same here happening on my works laptop, It crahes the entire system once I close the app. It's weird. And if it works it's slow and unresponsive. once I unistalled it, the pc started to work faster

same problem here. frustrating.

Hi, I installed the Spotify app on my Acer Travelmate 7740G laptop (Windows 10) and now it crashes all the time. All i get is a blue screen...I even can't start up Windows...Anyone who can help please???

Perhaps if you boot Windows 10 in SAFE MODE it will load with a minimal configuration it allow you to uninstall Spotify.

Hi have exactly the same thing with crashing system and needed a hard reboot this has been a reoccuring issue since 2015 from what forums say and not seen a single reply from spotify in respect of this. So i have uninstalled and with be sure to discourage everyone from these services in future.

Hi Densuec, tnx 4 ur answer. Unfortunatly that doesn't work... i already tried it before. I'm not a computer specialist but hey...google is my friend so i have tried quit some things (even with command prompt). I think I'll just have to buy a new Windows 10 and reinstall my computer...

Kind regards,

Pascal

Hi fcukSpotify (great nick 🙂 )

Exactly, this is really a great lack of respect towards their own users/clients. Worse is that you can hardly get in contact with them (no telephone) and if you do, they don't respond to your problem....

How did you solve the problem..hard reboot? Problem here persists; I always get a blue screen; doesn't matter what I do or try. I even tried with command prompt:

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Bootrec /fixmbr

Bootrec /fixboot

It works for the rebuildbcd and fixmbr but says access denied when i try the fixboot...

Guess i'll have to buy a new Windows 10 and reinstall my laptop... 😞

Enjoy your day 😉

Kind regards,

Pascal

Hi fcukSpotify (what a great nic 🙂 ),

You are so right about the lack of respect from Spotify. Worse is that we can hardly contact them (no phone number) and what i've read about people who send them a message about the topic, they just don't answer to the problem....frustrating.

A hard reboot doensn't work for me...i get blue screen after blue screen after blue screen.... Even tried Command Prompt like

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Bootrec /fixmbr

Bootrec /fixboot

but that doens't work either (access denied when I try fixboot)...

Guess i'll have to buy Windows 10 and reinstall my laptop 😞

How dit you solve the problem?

Enjoy your day,

Kind regards,

Pascal

Spotify is destroying my computer. Blue screens and forced restarts. Its obviously not just me either.

Same here. Major slow down of the computer- poiter and aftermath of typing sth has a lagging and slow response, robotic sound, blue screen, crash dump.

I also happen to have trouble with windows explorer not responding, meaning the start button and all of the icons on the tab don't work. The volume and brightness indicators on screen don't show when sound/brightness is lowered or raised.

Do you guys have any idea if the two issues can be related? Thanks in advance for your time.

Probably, I'd say. Had simiar slowdown/crash issues after install. Spofity don't give a sh!t about these issues or this forum for that matter. I don't even think there are any Spotify employees monitoring it?????

Same windows 10 crashes every. single. time.  Had to remove it 3 times now and won't upload again.

ANY SOLVING OF THIS ISSUE AT ANY POINT? I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING YET?
