[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

I'm delighted to say Lossless is now rolling out. It will happen gradually, to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.

@walp where are you from?

I wonder will they increase Premium price aswell soon?
I have student payment eligible until the end of august, so that means my whole price will change to normal after 4 years. Now with the total silence regarding lossless and other services close enough, it could be meaning easy exit for me.

I canceled Spotify Premium long ago, because of the following easy equation:

no HiFi = no money

I subscribed TIDAL but as a smarthome-user I am missing control by voice commands (e.g. Google Home Mini) and a smartwatch app. Also my downloaded music sometimes takes more than a minute to start playing 🙄

I will now change to Deezer, which can be controlled with Google Assistant and even has an app for smartwatches 👍🏼

Hi

when Spotify HiFi will be available ?

tts42572

Raising prices when they've innovated nothing and are providing basically the same service they did 10 years ago?  And anything that has been added, I certainly could care less about.

If you're rolling out prices increases, better roll out HIFI along with those increases.  At least that's something I'd feel good about paying more to have.

Tired of everything in society costing more while getting the same service...or less in some cases.

I think it was great how other music streaming services enabled lossless or even hi-res audio without increasing their prices.

I love Spotify. I’ve recommended it to all my friends. I especially appreciate your algorithms, design, and cross-platform support.

However, there’s no option yet to stream lossless-quality music like FLAC. Because of this, I currently pay for both Spotify and a competitor (Tidal), simply to enjoy high‑quality audio. Unfortunately, Tidal’s interface and recommendation system fall short compared to Spotify’s.

I’d be very happy to switch entirely to Spotify if you introduce something like “Spotify Premium Plus” with lossless audio - even at a higher price than Tidal. Many of my friends would likely do the same and pay for an upgraded tier.

For years, Spotify hasn’t offered this feature even though there’s obvious demand. I’d gladly pay more if Spotify launched a HiFi‑level streaming plan.

Thank you for considering this. I hope to see lossless audio support in Spotify soon.

Best regards

“New demos collection out everywhere except Spotify (fu*k Spotify). You can bootleg it if you wanna.” So, yeah. The move is intentional.
