[Android][Other] Integration of Spotify and BMW Connected Drive - Android

So this idea has been implemented for iOS, can we see some Android love please???

 

The Connected Drive app is available on the Google Pllay store but it's only showing integration with Twitter and some other parts of the phone, would love to see Spotify added to this!

Hey everyone, the new 2016 BMW 7 Series is here – with Spotify built in. Pair your Android (with the Spotify app 3.8.0 update or above) to control music straight from the dashboard. 

Due to Android OS phone manufacturer compatibility issues, the Spotify integration currently only works with the new 2016 BMW 7 Series. We are working hard to enable Spotify for all compatible BMW Connected Drive and Mini Connected vehicles.

In order to support other cars besides 7 Series they would need atleast to update the Connected Drive app or the Connected Drive car firmware...

@neur0x Why do You think that? SmartThings Mobile app shows up in my NBT, i just tested. Why can't Spotify?

If nothing changed how would it work if it hasn't before?

 

Spotify, Connected Drive app and firmware are still the same version. 

 

The only difference vs 2016 7 Series is the Connected Drive firmware on the car.

Which Version of Spotify do you have?

 

Mine is 4.4.0.1008 and Playstore isn't schowing me an update...

 

How am I able to see my Connected Drive Firmware Version? E-Sys and Ista-D is installed....

As far as i recall, go to Settings, Software Update, you should have an option to check which version you have installed. Also, you can use the last 7 digits of your VIN number on bmw.com/update to see if there's an update.

There isn't one for my car which has a production date of July 2015.

@neur0x I assume BMW Connected app can download a supported devices and apps list or something like that.

 

@faithless1108I'm in Spotify beta group, i have 4.5 installed.

You can check your ConnectedDrive firmware version under Settings > Update software if i remember correctly. Check this screenshot http://i59.tinypic.com/15mmyx3.jpg

There isn't one for mine either... production date 11/2015

 

I check this page weekly...

At the Site http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/bmw_apps_2013/apps/spotify/index.html

I selected Germany and then there are 2 Buttons... One which leads me to iOS App Store and one that leads me to Playstore but I am not able to find that previously posted compatibility list...

@poisike Since last update Spotify App appears  on the Connected Drive App but it doesn't work, doesn't appear on my CIC.

@faithless1108The list of compatible phones can be found at http://www.bmw.de/de/topics/faszination-bmw/connecteddrive/connecteddrive-services-offers/mobile-end...

Select filter by Apps and You will see a list of 32 devices that are compatible.

 

There was a invite to beta group a long time ago, as far as i know it's closed now.
