[Desktop] Option if Spotify links should open native Spotify app or Webplayer

Seems like Spotify keeps pushing this issue aside because not enough people are complaining about it. I've actually seen a good amount of posts on the community boards about it but none of them seem to have gained traction with the powers that be, claiming its a non-issue and the post gets closed. I disagree, wholeheartedly.

Please bring this option back! I don't use the web player... ever. And, I don't want to now have to start copying and pasting the links into spotify app. Call me lazy. The advanced settings used to have the option to have links open in the desktop app. But that option has recently disappeared. Seems like a very obvious and useful feature, and just strange to suddenly remove that functionality.

My friends and I are always trading spotify links via text and emails and it's incredibly frustrating that it now doesn't automatically open in the desktop app like it used to. If I say pretty please, with a link to a cherry on top, would you consider this a legitimate request?

Hey folks,

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions on this one.

You should now have the option to open song links directly in the Spotify app!

Cheers 🙂

Yeah, this is completely shameful. It seems like a given that whenever I encounter an issue with spotify, I look it up only to find out hundreds of other people have the exact same sentiment and have already raised it, to which spotify has already said "well if this was a real problem more people would complain, sorry!" despite literally hundreds to thousands of complaints across multiple posts on the forum having already been made. It's actual gaslighting. It would be better if they just outright said "we don't care about your experience and will continue to remove features until the service is only technically functional and all aspects of the UI are managed by AI." But they have to maintain their wafer thin mask of being a Cool CompanyTM. This forum is a complete sham and always has been. None of the QoL requests or the massive pushes for the return of cut features on here have ever come to fruition. It literally exists so they can point to something and "look, we DO care about our customers!"

Bring back playlist radio you cowards.

I’ll be leaving Spotify when my mobile contract ends. After seeing the revenue share and hearing the news of Spotify CEO becoming richer than any recoding artist ever, I just can’t support this company anymore. I’ve seen plugins that will copy my playlists into different streaming services so I can’t think of a good reason to stay with Spotify.
