[Desktop][Other] "Don't play this artist" on desktop

I would like the option to permanently dislike a featured artist like on mobile that I can choose for "Don't play this artist"

e.g for several weeks now various artists and gamechops have appeared in my release calendar. I have absolutely no interest in this band

But I dont have the option to remove the featured artist, which just means the following week a new artist pop ups with gamechops as featured and I have no way to prevent this.

I have event tried blocking gamechops on android but makes no difference

Hi everyone,

Great news! We're excited to announce that the feature is now also available on the desktop app and the Web Player 😎

If you don't want the app to play a specific artist, you can click the three dots menu of their artist page and select Don't play this artist. The next time a song of theirs comes up, it will automatically be skipped 👍

If you ever change your mind, you can undo the changes at any time by selecting Allow this artist to play instead.

The fact that this is already implemented in mobile is proof that Spotify has the means and infrastructure to support this feature. The fact that Spotify steadfastly refuses to implement this for desktop is proof that someone is paying them not to.

This does not work on mobile, either. Sadly, these artists still keep being recommended to me.

Blocking means a user/artist is not visible to you. This is a basic feature on every platform I use, but not Spotify?

I think it's time to start questioning what I'm paying for here.

I listen to many productions for my job as mastering engineer and often use the 'Goto song radio' to discover similar productions but since today this feature has been killed by Spotify: my radio playlists are now riddled with test signals from an Audiolab test album and there is no way to fix this. Do better!

There are artists that I have never played, that I am not interested in, that regularly show up in my weekly recommended playlists (usually Release Radar). Maddeningly, even though I click the (–) button every time they come up, it makes no difference—they still come up week after week. Since the (–) is not functional, a way for me to unambiguously block an artist would be most welcome. Why this is possible in the mobile app but not the desktop app is utterly confounding—it should be standard practice for the feature spec of the desktop version to be at least as robust as the mobile version. So the experience is doubly frustrating. Triply frustrating if you include the algorithm that is recommending the unwanted music in the first place.

I'm very disappointed about Spotify's decision not to implement this feature on the desktop. It is a big UX experience frustration point to have a different experience on desktop and mobile with such a negativity-provoking matter. Also it is crucial functionality to somehow lower the influence of russian propaganda on me through their music. Such decisions really make me look into other music streaming services.

My Question or Issue

I have a very weird suggestion in Discover Weekly and release radar, so I have to block all of this music. I blocked more than 100 artists, and everything was okay on my mobile phones, tested on a fresh iPhone 15 pro, with no cache, etc, and an older iPhone 12Pro, and it synced between devices.

But if I go to the web/desktop app all artists are visible and playable.
Support is useless and looks uneducated they even don't know that there is no block button in the desktop app.

I tried everything, clean OS(new Mac OS user), clean install, not mine device. Nothing helps, so how can I sync blocked artists? Or report a bug to Spotify, as again support useless disconnecting is always, not helping at all.

I mostly listen to spotify on Desktop during the day and do not want to listen to songs by particular artists. This feature exists for mobile, but should also exist on Desktop.

Is there a way to get rid of Taylor Swift ??? Can Spotify understand that when we block 541524545456565656 times an "artist" the 541524545456565657 th recommendation of this artist is a little boring ????? I really hope that the future supremium will give us the choice of what we get in our front page

Spotify - To the R & D department specifically;

Please consider the following Spotify Premium feature, it truly would be revolutionary to playback technology......

The ability to black-list artists from EVER playing on your Spotify account.

There's honestly a few bands that keep popping up and I am so sick of hearing them; I listen to random public playlist's all the time, most people make some banger playlists; however, they always seem to add Fall Out Boy, and it's just the worst.  PLEASE consider adding the black-list feature so I can never hear Fall Out Boy ever again on my personal Radio's nor in any playlist that I might randomly click into.
