[Desktop][Other] "Don't play this artist" on desktop

I would like the option to permanently dislike a featured artist like on mobile that I can choose for "Don't play this artist"

e.g for several weeks now various artists and gamechops have appeared in my release calendar. I have absolutely no interest in this band

But I dont have the option to remove the featured artist, which just means the following week a new artist pop ups with gamechops as featured and I have no way to prevent this.

I have event tried blocking gamechops on android but makes no difference

Hi everyone,

Great news! We're excited to announce that the feature is now also available on the desktop app and the Web Player 😎

If you don't want the app to play a specific artist, you can click the three dots menu of their artist page and select Don't play this artist. The next time a song of theirs comes up, it will automatically be skipped 👍

If you ever change your mind, you can undo the changes at any time by selecting Allow this artist to play instead.

Thank you for for making Spotify better! Your passion and feedback are greatly appreciated 💚

Also it would be nice to be able to block single songs. If i block them on my phone they still get played on my PC! I want to be able to just block songs and not hear them again!

I have set on the mobile app 'Don't play this artist' assuming it was something that would transcend apps. I was wrong.

Artists I would rather not hear from are constantly coming up in blends (I love blends as a concept) and in DJ (also love the DJ). I was quite surprised such a basic feature doesn't already exist in a functional way. For an app that is all about curation, this seems like a major oversight.

I'd go one step further and also add in a 'don't play this track again' - there are some songs that keep coming up in rotation through the algorithm that I do not want to listen to nor do I want them considered for any blends/DJ/playlists.  I prefer Spotify to the radio because of its range, I don't want it to then mimic the stations by playing 10 songs heavily in rotation (TS I'm looking at you)

This is the one most frustrating thing about Spotify because even though I like the idea of different algorithmic Radio and Mix playlists, they are 100% unbearable to listen to on the desktop app for the lack of this feature. You see, the lesser known a band is, the weirder choices the algorithm tends to make, even to the point of including fake AI bands in their Radio and Mix playlists. Surely everyone would like to turn these off, but the lack of this feature only makes life easier for the scammers. It's also beyond me why an artist that I block on mobile is still recommended to me on the desktop app? How can you not see the absurdity in this?

This is unbearable. Spotify ignores customer requests for years, and gives NO reason why this very very common feature isn't present?

Maybe it's time to choose a different service if Spotify is really going to be that insistent as to enforce the listening of certain disgusting depraved immoral people's "music".

The premium service is very expensive and one must wonder why such a very basic feature was REMOVED - not just that it didnt exist.

The fact you can only do it on a phone is stupid. I aint got one and aoint getting one. I have been paying you for years and should be able to customize what i wish to listen to, not what you wish me to listen to, or whatever particular bands you and the record labels wanna push.

So i blocked a song on my phone and it still gets played on my phone....

With all the new information that’s come to light about the predatory environment in the music industry, I believe it is VITAL to have the option to Block specific Artists.

As it stand, the block feature works intermittently on iOS from my experience, however on desktop and featured songs of blocked artist, this is not an option.

It is very distressing as someone who suffers from PTSD, if I hear a certain song or person. It may seem odd, but I’m sure I’m not the only one out there that feels this way. Music is supposed to be a safe space.

Same feedback for podcasts, which I posted in this community months ago.

I don’t see Spotify actually changing this, but it’s really important for awareness to be shared.

This such a simple request! Add it already!

In the age of streaming, I enjoy listening to Spotify-curated playlists from time to time to discover new music as well as the playlists from other Spotify users I follow. However, there are certain artists I am no longer interested in promoting by contributing to their total streams, and in consequence increasing their bottom line.

For example, I may listen to a considerable amount of music that intersects with the work of a specific artist that I no longer have any interest in lending my support to in the form of streams. Reasons for this might be because of views this artist espouses and has refused to denounce that could evidently be classified as hate speech. In such a scenario, I would like a means of filtering out songs from public playlists automatically that this artist has a credit on. This would be extremely valueable and would allow me to spend more care-free minutes in the app listening to AI-enhanced playlists, public playlists, or playlists generated by other users without having to worry about inadvertently streaming an artist whose music I no longer feel I can support.

My Question or Issue

Why do we not have the ability to hide songs or artists from the desktop app?

DONT JUST TELL ME ITS AVAILABLE ON MOBILE APP! i'm specifically asking why we still cant 4 years after people have been asking and requesting it in the ideas submissions for years now. What is the real reason?
