Since spotify refuses to update the client for linux they need to update the web player to html5. I personally refuse to add the adobe vunerability to my machine, and with that said its absolutely absurd that its almost 2017 now and this still hasnt happened. Yes i realize this is thread necromancy.
I've switched to a more light-weight web experience and would really like Spotify to start working on getting the web player working in HTML5. Flash's grave has already been dug and many websites are abandoning it. Please consider putting HTML5 integration higher on the priority list. Thanks.
Spotify is the only site that requires Flash that I use. I now quit my account to finally uninstall the huge security risk that Flash is.
Its shame HTML5 is still not available for spotify. I came back after ~year to check if they made any progress and after loging at play.spotify.com i get again popup to get adobe flash...so sadly no change.
I dont have flash on any of my computers.
Spotify wake up into 2017, its long past due for html5
It is 2017 and I'm still waiting for HTML5 web player.
CMON SPOTIFY ITS [CURRENT YEAR]
At work, the desktop client runs into port issues with our IT department, and the Flash web client is a non-starter because of Flash.
I have to use Google Play Music instead of Spotify at work because GPM uses HTML5. It would be nice to be able to use my Spotify subscription at work.
Please understand that an HTML5 player will work not only on desktop browser, but also in xbox one, and smart tvs (like LG webos tv) that are HTML5 compliant, so you will not need to create dedicated applications for each plattform.

Hey everyone! We can confirm this very popular idea is now fully implemented. The new Web Player uses HTML5 technologies solely. Thanks for your continued feedback in the Idea Exchange!
