[Mobile] Get rid of 'Create' button on mobile navigation bar

marcoslaporte8_1-1729535408614.png

I recently got the last update, and found that a fourth button was added to the bottom navbar. What's the point of this? It's in the way of entering 'Your Library' section, as this was the default spot for that button.

Besides that, does it really need to have a shortcut? How often do people create new playlists or blends? There's already a button for that in 'Your Library', so...

I think removing this button will improve UI.

Hey folks!

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We're setting this one to ‘Implemented’. Check out the steps here to learn how to hide and display the Create button.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

If you don’t see this yet, we continuously test and refine features to give users even more control of their Spotify experience so your friends still might see something you don’t. Rest assured, we'll let the team know about your thoughts on this. You can continue to let us know what you think here in Community.

the new settings to turn off + button on nav bar appears at [my profile icon click -> settings -> contents and display -> + button toggle on the bottom of the list]. I successfully removed via that menu.

Just figured this out...

If you have an Android phone, you can download version 8 of the app from https://spotify.en.uptodown.com/android/versions to get rid of the tab. You'll need to download the uptodown app store before you can download the older version of the app. They may have it for ios as well. Just make sure to uninstall the most recent version of the app first, turn off automatic updates or you'll end up with the useless tab again. You may also need to turn off the AutoBlocker function by going to the Security and Privacy settings on Android.

Agreed. Absolutely most ridiculous UI I have ever seen. How did it ever get signed off. Years and years of muscle memory gone because they’ve stuck a ridiculous create button where the library button should be.

Most ridiculous update I have ever seen.

Please, share this idea on Reddit, twitter and everywhere people care about the Spotify experience. I have had enough. Thanks.

Just got this, I assume that they're staggering the updates so there's less public outcry but this is actually pitiful. I can't think of any other company that make worse UI decisions than this one, maybe time to jump ship

Genuinely the worst UI-Update till now.
As a UI/UX designer myself, this might just be the worst decision I've seen from the team at Spotify.

Absolutely messes up the users muscle memory and adds unnecessary importance to the create button. Not a single user wants to create a new Blend or Playlist every single day.
Why has it been added to the main bottom bar?!

abhivir

Years of muscle memory gone down the drain.

Unnecessary UI-Update has returned since today, which leads to a terrible UX.

No need for such importance in creating a new Blend or Playlist over just simply accessing your Library from the main Bottom Bar. Zero effort shown to understand what users actually want.

Just got this update and I want to say **bleep** you to the UI designers.

Why would you put it where I have been pressing the library button EVERY DAY FOR A DECADE??!?? Don't need and don't want this feature. Just leave the UX alone l swear. I still turn off the now playing window on desktop every time too.

Please Spotify, nobody asked for this new "Create" button. If you absolutely insist on having it, at least make it optional. I fully agree with what other users have said about muscle memory. I use Spotify a lot on the go, and it was super convenient having the Library in the bottom right corner for quick access to podcasts or my favorite music. Now it’s just frustrating every time I open the app. I don’t need this button, I won’t ever use it, and it only gets in the way. Please reconsider.
