Please create an app for the Apple watch that allows users to change songs and playlists from their watch. Perfect for working out and the busy commute.

Updated on 2018-11-13

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea.

We're pleased to confirm that you can now DJ from your wrist with Spotify on Apple Watch.

> Play, pause, and skip, both music and podcasts.
> Control the volume.
> Get info about what’s playing.
> Play from Recently Played.
> Save your favorites.
> Use Spotify Connect to play to another device.

To get Spotify on Apple Watch you’ll need an iPhone 5 or above, running iOS 10.0 and above, and an Apple Watch on watchOS 4.0 and above.

We have some more info on the Support site: https://support.spotify.com/listen_everywhere/smart_watches/apple-watch/
and the Newsroom:
https://newsroom.spotify.com/2018-11-13/spotify-for-apple-watch-helps-you-keep-time-with-the-music/.

Many thanks!

This project is already delayed. We are premium customer and we need this app.

I got the apple watch about 2 months ago. When I figured out that I could not use Spotify for offline workout with Apple watch I cancled my ~5 year old premium subscription and went to apple music. I think I'm not alone. Apple music aint that bad, but I think I will come back if we ever get the app.

Status changed to: Not Right Now

Updated on 2017-08-23

Hey @Rtkemp90 and other followers of this idea. We wanted to post a new update to confirm this idea's status as 'Not Right Now'. We don't comment on any ideas that involve third parties, but if we have any public news about Spotify on Apple Watch we will announce it on our News Blog first. Please know we will continue to read the comments left here and pass the kudos numbers to our internal teams. Thank you!

what other ideas have 5450 users asking for it and are still marked "not right now"? You aren't listening to your customers, and have shut down those who have implemented this feature. You suck.

DuncBob

Seriously - 3 years and the only comment from Spotify is "not right now". You have 5500 users on this forum asking for this feature and god knows how many subscribers who never even venture on the forums. Way to treat your loyal customers... NOT!

I have seen å Spotify logo on my AppleWatch on å few occations, When using Watch to adjust volume on Phone(playing spotify).

Maybe just å glitch? I have not seen it lately..

But, Give us Spotify directly on Watch!

An Apple Watch app is mearly an extension of your existing iOS app which you made, developed and maintain. To say that you "don't comment on ideas involving third parties" is asinine. Where is the official Spotify phone that I should be using to listen to your service? I guess everyone is using their Spotify branded computers and using the Spotify browser to listen huh? Without third parties, you would not exist. Get over yourself.

Spotifys ego is off the charts!!!

My understanding is the delay is not coming from Spotify, but from Apple.
My guess is there was a sort of "hack" being used in the Snowy app to play
music in the background that no longer exists in the upcoming release of
the WatchOS, meaning any work they did on this would just end up broken in
a couple months with no workaround. See the below link for my source:

http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/08/10/overcast-developer-nixes-standalone-podcasts-on-apple-watc...

Also, the developer who originally worked on the Snowy app does appear to
still be working with/at Spotify as of a month ago, so maybe in the future
Apple will allow us to have what we want and he'll get it going for us

No so. This is 100% Spotify.
