[Podcasts] Push Notification for new Episodes

All of us Podcast lovers would definitely welcome a push notifications for new podcast episodes. Please consider!

Hey folks,

 

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

 

We're happy to announce that we've implemented New Episode Notifications and they're now available on iOS and Android mobile devices only.

 

How will New Episode Notifications work?
Starting August 17th, a Push Notification will be sent when a Show that users subscribed to releases a New Episode. Users won’t receive notifications for Episodes that they have already listened to.

 

How do I subscribe to New Episode Notifications?
From mobile, users can subscribe to receive notifications using the Bell icon on the Podcast Show page. If a user hits the Bell, they will automatically Follow the Show too. Users can also subscribe/unsubscribe by navigating to Notification Settings in the Spotify app, and selecting notification Settings, which displays all their followed Shows and subscription status.

I appreciate push notifications. They motivate me to listen to new content. It’s a good reminder and encourages me to use the app.


Other apps offering Podcasts utilize push notifications, and they are an important factor for me so I may switch to them.

 

One of the reasons I love Spotify for my podcasts is the ability to keep in sync on any device.

This is a no brainer feature. I want to be notified when a new episode is available for my podcast subscriptions. Sticking with PocketCasts for everything except JRE.

Without this feature there is no chance Spotify becomes my go to place for podcasts!

Please work on it bc the Joe Rogan podcast will be exclusively on Spotify only after december

Hi, a little late to the party here I know, but I really would like to see this feature added. They just spent how many millions of dollars on a deal with Joe Rogan, but we can't get notified to listen to it? Seems simple to me since they already have notifications for other stuff on the app.

Spotify as a podcasting company lags behind in basic features, and seems to have little interest in implementing them. For instance, the community had to vote to mark a podcast episode as played. This is a basic feature, and it should not fall on the “fans” to convince a corporation to add it.

 

Looking far back in the Community Forums, I read that the option to repeat a single song had to be voted and campaigned for before it was added, which is a good illustration of what I am talking about.

I have all my notifications turned on in iOS for Spotify plus new podcast push notification and still not getting anything. What gives?
