[Social] Block Followers

I believe there should be a way to block people that are following you on Spotify. When blocked, the user will automatically unfollow you and will not be able to find you, or view your public playlists.

 

Blocking should be possible via both username and email address.

Hi everyone,

 

Thanks for coming to the Ideas Exchange, and sharing your votes and comments.

 

We’re pleased to confirm that all users now have the option to block another user on Spotify. With this update, you can actively block another user across desktop and mobile devices, preventing them from being able to see listening activity, public playlists, or view profile pages.

 

Here’s how it works:

  • When visiting another user’s profile, click on the   (...) button.
  • Select “Block” (or “Block User” on mobile) to block the user whose profile you are viewing.
  • This user will now be blocked and cannot access your page, public playlists or view your listening activity.
  • To unblock a user, click the Unblock option in the same menu.

7 years and nothing. This is absolutely disgusting, Spotify. I'm seriously considering cancelling my Spotify subscription and switching to Apple music so I don't have to continue being abused through this platform anymore.

Hey Spotify, i've been waiting for this feature for about a year now. Please do implement it! I love your platform and I can't imagine living without it. But i have several people i'd like to block from my Spotify since it's my sanctuary. Thanks!

Almost 11000 votes from people who don't feel safe or have an other reason why they want to be able to block people. That's a lot Spotify.

I am the victim of an abusive former business partner. He continues to stalk and torment me, and cause me great psychological harm by showing he still can access aspects of my life, by repeatedly playing exactly what I have been listening to on Spotify. Unless each time I first select ‘Private Session’, I am re-victimised by him in this way. It is making it extremely difficult to extricate him from my life and to recover from the abuse I have already suffered. I challenge the Spotify developers who claim the platform isn’t intended to be social and therefore there is no requirement to allow users to block followers for unsavoury online behaviour. In all other communities, online or otherwise, victims are entitled to this basic privacy right. In light of my situation, please reconsider your development ‘roadmap’ for 2021 to include adding the feature of an option to block followers.
