Ability change speed/pitch of song

Hey everyone!

I think it would be an amazing feature to be able to speed up/slow down songs natively in the app. This would obviously also affect the pitch of the desired song(s). Meaning, it doesn't sound like the YouTube player where it just speeds it up without changing the pitch. In reality, it would actually sound nice. It would be very helpful, in my opinion, to re-listen to the same song, but almost from a different perspective. As you know, some songs sound really good sped up or slowed down. There are hundreds of user accounts on virtually any social media platform, showcasing videos of Spotify's lyrics, but with the song sped up (most likely made using CapCut, etc.). Adding this into the app would not only make it easier to find songs, instead of having to search for them on social media, but it would also prevent the publishing of copyright infringed content onto the platform. Meaning, people wouldn't have to create artist accounts featuring sped up/slowed down versions of songs that they don't have the rights to. They would already be available natively in the app. I've seen hundreds (if not, thousands) of people ask for this feature and I think it would be a nice touch on something that no other platform has implemented.

Note:

I did find a pretty similar idea here, but I decided to re-open it since it has been nearly 5 years. I'm trying to be honest with y'all, please don't remove the idea just because it is a "duplicate". If possible, an update would be nice, regarding if this feature will ever come or not, since it did say in the OP's post that they would give an update regarding this. Hopefully it will gain some kind of traction

Thanks,

Alright, here I am, on the hunt for an app—not for fun, mind you. A few months back, I experienced a sudden hearing loss, and ever since, listening to music has been a bit of a downer. Not because the sound quality is abysmal (seriously, even lossless audio now feels like a cheap FM radio), but because every single sound has taken a sharp turn, you know? Everything sounds more high-pitched.

Imagine this: you’re all set to listen to your favorite singer belting out your cherished song, and then it hits you—you can’t fully enjoy it. It’s like someone else is singing a version tailor-made for those silly TikTok videos where they speed up the tunes. Suddenly, Dido sounds eerily like Kylie Minogue.

But here’s the twist: when I lower the pitch by just one tone, the music regains its authenticity—the way I remember it. (Granted, it might sound a tad peculiar to anyone else.)

Thank goodness for the Realtek Audio Console on my PC; it lets me tweak things to my liking. But alas, my phone—my trusty music companion—doesn’t offer the same luxury. No built-in pitch adjustment there. So, I keep scouring the app stores for third-party solutions. It’d be fantastic if music apps themselves had an option to fine-tune the pitch. No more endless searches for workarounds!

This should’ve been implemented A LONG TIME AGO. People use Spotify to practice music and this need to be able to transpose tracks and shift pitch to strengthen their key recognition. On top of that, it’s like the biggest trend going on now for years and it won’t stop. Everyone adds sped up and slowed down tracks. Not only people who make these edits and post them, but THE LITERAL ARTISTS THEMSELVES. SZA did it, OLIVER TREE did it, SABRINA CARPENTER did it, LIL UZI did it, STEVE LACY did it, THE WEEKND did it. You get the point. Spotify even has a playlist BY SPOTIFY of sped up songs. Why not just cut out the middle man? Save artists the trouble of having to add a sped up/slowed down version of their track on their single and implement this for the sake of all your customers. It’s way overdue!!

I read earlier this year that Spotify is developing a remix feature.  When will this feature be available?

I use spotify to get into the zone when working, and that always comes with me singing along to songs as they come on, though sometimes songs I love singing along to just aren't the right pitch for my voice, so I'd love a feature to change the pitch per song without changing the tempo so i can belt my heart out!

Please implement this.

I do Latin and Ballroom dancing, and I save playlists of all the songs I want use for my performances on Spotify. Some songs I think would be perfect for certain dances but would just need the tempo altered a little to suit the dances, however there's a large portion of songs that I'm not sure would work or not unless I heard the tempo changed to be sure. So if the function only applies to individual songs, then that would be phenomenally helpful. I can also use the function to help me practise routines at the suitable speed.

I am studying singing since many years and like to slow a song to learn it. It's easier even with a partition! I have this opportunity with YouTube and would like to have it with Spotify

Reducing the pitch of a song eases learning. I am studying singing and and reducing slightly its speed helps. YouTube and Karafun allows reducing or increasing the speed of the song; Karafun also allows modifying the tonality or the key of a song. Learning a song with a partition may be easier if the pitch is reduced.

1. It would be a lot easier to do this than to download a song and use a third party app.

2. Artists would be compensated

3. Songs that are slowed or sped are becoming popular and this would save artists from having to release separate versions of the same song

Please if this happens there should be a slider that adjusts semitones by 0.1 increments 🙏
