NEXT STEP

Add BPM, Key & Camelot Sorting to Spotify Mix 🎛️

Currently, when you press the Mix button, Spotify automatically creates a playlist — but there are no sorting options available.

It’s not possible to sort by BPM (tempo), musical key, or Camelot, so tracks stay in a random order.

Users have to manually reorder songs, which is inconvenient and makes the mix sound unbalanced.

💡My suggestion

Spotify should add professional sorting parameters inside Mix playlists:

1. Sort by BPM (Tempo) – for smooth rhythmic flow.

2. Sort by Key – for harmonic transitions between songs.

3. Sort by Camelot – for DJs and advanced listeners.

⚙️Why this is easy to implement

Spotify already has full track metadata (BPM, Key, Camelot) available through the Spotify API.

These parameters are used by many third-party DJ tools like Algoriddim DJAY, Rekordbox, and Mixed In Key.

That means Spotify can easily implement sorting without any additional track analysis — all the data is already there.

🎧Why this matters

Since Spotify is expanding tools like AI DJ and Mix, it makes sense to add professional sorting control.

This feature would improve the user experience, help create smoother and more intelligent playlists, and make Spotify more attractive to DJs and music creators.

Summary:

Adding sorting by BPM, Key, and Camelot is a logical and realistic next step.

Spotify already has the metadata — it just needs to enable sorting inside Mix.

A small change, but a huge improvement for every listener and creator.

Adding BPM, Key, and Camelot sorting to Spotify Mix playlists makes total sense. All the metadata is already available via the Spotify API, so implementing this would let users and DJs create smoother, more harmonically balanced mixes without manual reordering. A small change with big impact!

Absolutely agree.  There is a lot of manual work involved currently.  A lot of my playlists were made when I just wanted to add songs to a particular genre.  It would be helpful if Spotify can do some of the heavy lifting for us wannabe DJs.
