Add Karaoke-Style Word-by-Word Lyric Highlighting with Real-Time Sync

I’d love to see karaoke-style word-by-word highlighting, where each word is highlighted in real time as it's sung. This would work beautifully for:

• Singing along (karaoke-style)

• Language learners improving pronunciation

• Visually engaging experiences when casting to TV or using Spotify Connect

Ideally, it would:

• Highlight each word in the lyric line as it’s sung

• Be available on mobile, desktop, and the Web Player

• Be optionally triggered with a toggle (e.g. “Karaoke Mode”)

This could also open the door to real-time lyric APIs for developers, making it easier to create karaoke apps using Spotify playback.

I could have written the code for this, but I'm too busy with my ventures, which I am going to launch next year. I will check back in a couple of weeks to see if the idea has had any traction.

Hi,

I mute the audio when a song isn't in the key I wish to play and or sing along to. Dedicated musician apps have used this feature for years, as it is a key-change (and with a subpar singing outcome) workaround. Sure I could practise keeping up with sentences or wear my metronome watch. But this simple fix may help to move me from my trial version to that of a paid subscriber.
