[All Platforms] Display full Track Titles or let them roll at searching or playing

Can you find a way to let users see a full title and we can tell each tracks quicker and not by playing it?

One way is to roll the title. It is how Volumio is doing.

Another way is to ask the tracks providers to input specific info on the title instead of everything like full name of artists or composers. There should be other place for them.

For classical music, the composer is as critical as the player and lots of tracks on Spotify mix them up. It makes searching more difficult.

Hey there @ioushiou,

Thanks for bringing your idea to the Spotify Community Ideas Exchange. Just to let you know, I've updated the title of this idea to make it easier to find in search 🙂

Take care!

Can this be expanded to improving the general readability of titles even when playing? Currently many classical titles are impossible to see outright. It takes many seconds to get to the end of “Beethoven: symphony no. 2 in D major op. 36: II Largo” just go find out it’s the second movement. And you still have to wait for the auto scroll to even see it’s the second symphony. Perhaps the scrolling could be manual if the names can’t be shortened. Or in the case of already playing music, the name clicked/touched on to access the full name, along with slightly smaller text.

The text truncation issue impacts visually impaired users. As someone who is nearsighted and has mild astigmatism, I use iOS' Dynamic Type feature to zoom the text up across all apps that support the feature.

The Spotify app currently truncates text when zoomed to larger sizes -- favouring density of rows -- which can result in a page full of ellipses as shown in the screenshot posted upthread -- when it ought to wrap the text, favouring fuller titles / text information, to make it clearer what each row contains.

It would be nice if, in addition to inheriting global Dynamic Type preferences, the app could offer a variety of views such as a denser grid of album covers, more compact alphabetical lists for things like Artists, a "card" list view with fuller text for Albums, Podcasts and Podcast Episodes, and identify reasonable breakpoints where the layout adjusts to ensure readable text at all times.
