[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

@Yordan please give an update on this

@bzero Maybe they don't even know as some competitor's messed up Spotify's original plans completely.

The silence indicates that they are either preparing some clever way to justify price increase for hifi or that they have abandoned the original plan and that they won't be bringing hifi at all..

I would like to know, what kind of person can overlook this idea and completely deny the almost 30k votes.

He/she or whatever it is doesn't like music at all.

This has been the most requested feature ever for Spotify...

The fact Spotify still doesn't offer hi-res lossless audio is absurd after promising it 3 years ago. Its a very noticeable difference in audio quality that makes important parts of songs just so much better. On top of the fact that they plan to charge extra for it (whenever/IF EVER it comes out) when it's already offered on apple music, by default, for LESS!!! I recommend anyone who can switch to apple music do so, unless physically/technically not possible. Pathetic job Spotify.

Seria bacana dar um inovada na qualidade do audio, ter um suporte a audio espacial e audio Hi-Res e Lofi, também seria bacana, tem vários outros apps fazendo isso!

Just keep waiting.....and waiting....

It's almost comical at this point.  I mean, it really shouldn't be that hard.  Other services have figured it out just fine.  It's embarrassing that the "market leader" can't seem to figure it out.

In the meantime, I keep using Tidal and loving it.  I definitely notice the quality difference and can't seem to unhear it now.

And I personally could care less about recommendations and all the fancy stuff that Spotify seems to preoccupy themselves with.  I get my updates on new stuff from other social media sites.  When I pull up Tidal/Spotify, I know exactly what I want to listen to.  I just want to listen to it with good quality.

Do you have any plans at all for HiFi/High Res subscription?

Every other streaming service has it, why not Spotify??

And on top of that, you are raising prices!?

Not cool at all...

WE, NEED, HIFI!

The fact this is STILL not implemented will ultimately make me move to apple.
I'm sorry but this situation is unbearable.

Where is HIFI?
