[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

Because advertising revenue...

Plus Spotify doesn't have to share royalties revenue as much when you play
Spotify produced podcasts...
And then they stick actual (often off-volume, OTHER podcast) ads in the
middle of the dialog...
In the premium paid listening service...

I don't mind listening to good casts but SMH at the amount of annoying **bleep**
you have to put up with. I get that the creators have to cover costs, but
it's really feeling a bit excessive.

So much more pleasant to listen to the entire [insert artist/genre/label of
choice] catalog of music with no breaks, skips or interruptions...

I'd be happy if I can just hide certain podcasts. Ones I actively DO NOT
want to listen to.

You'd think this would be in Spotify's interest!
Not going to listen to Mysterious Murder Mayhem 2: electric boogaloo... But
I might listen to something ELSE if I could get it out of my face!

I understand that they don't really want you to hide ALL podcasts... But
being able to shut them off for kids, and being able to demote/dislike ones
you never want to see again should be an option, and feels like a negligent
oversight.

I wonder if one star ratings would hide bad podcasts...

Please make this change urgently. I just want my teen to be able to listen to music safely, and rest his eyes and brain from all the flickering fast moving 'content' that gives him a constant dopamine high, not to mention exposing him to explicit images. He likes rap, not stupid children's songs so please stop with the 'have you tried Spotify kids?'. It is literally **bleep** being a parent these days and music was one safe place....

This is a basic feature that any responsible media-tech company will implement on release. That Spotify has this ability for music says the technique, if not the tech, is already well-known within the company.

Give users the ability to curate their own experience or you will suffer lost revenue at the hands of competitors that do offer this ability.

I am continually frustrated with the user interface not allowing me to disable podcasts and audiobooks from my cover screen in the mobile UI, the web app, and also the desktop app.  I am certain that I will never listen to many of these shows and books.  Currently, I do not believe Spotify prioritizes their users over ad revenue generated from podcast streaming.

Podcasts and audiobooks are unable to be blocked, although I have started utilizing "Not Interested" to block audiobooks.  As an additional problem, if you go to the podcast or specific episode and mark the full podcast/episode as "played", the suggested episode remains on your home screen.

I am currently working to find podcasts on alternative platforms to prevent further suggestions, as I would much prefer my music and podcasts to be entirely separate from one another.  Please be aware that if you listen to a podcast as background/sleep noise, you will be bombarded with suggested episodes of that show from there forward, until Spotify resolves this.

As a logical solution, I move to the music tab.  Moving to the exclusive "Music" tab then suggests the DJ to me over half of the screen, which I am not interested in.  Scrolling further down the music tab does not show me any of my recently played artists, but suggested artists that truly do not align with my genres.  Although I am only seeing music now, the UI is taking up a large portion of my modern phone screen with things I am not interested in.  I am looking to find music, turn it on and get back to my task at hand.

I would prefer if user customizable home screens were taken into greater consideration.  I believe this implementation of a customizable home screen would result in a larger positive impact to the user base, over adding audiobooks to Spotify, as a whole.

I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point.

Spotify pushes unwanted content at us.  But when I tried to like the comments I agree with, I got a message saying I exceeded 10 likes per minute.  Irony??

Can you, Spotify, give me this feature too to stop you:   "You have exceeded the number of times you have pushed unwanted and obnoxious content at me".

podcasts are completely intended propaganda.  They really need to allow users the option to turn off offensive **bleep** like the divisive fabler joe rogan and most other podcasts.  I am hear for music; podcasts make me sick to my stomach.  Thanks spotify for trying to force your right wing BS down my throat.  This is why these media companies need to be regulated to **bleep** and back.

To be fair, I think there's just as much left leaning podcasts as right
leaning podcasts here.
Listening to historical podcasts I'm kinda surprised by the tone
sometimes...

Judging from experience Spotify are totally merc, they will push whatever gets revenue.

Hence the "shuffle" that is anything but random.

Never-ending podcast suggestions make me want to cancel my subscription. I do not want to use Spotify for podcasts. Even if I did, I would want it as a separate part of the app from music. Mixing music and podcasts is an awful experience.

Please add this. Spotify chooses to host a number of podcasts I find extremely offensive. I've debated cancelling entirely but have stayed for now. I want the option to not be confronted with these terrible people when I log in to an account I pay for.
