Artist OG Score — See how early I discovered an artist

Status: Live Idea
0 Likes

I’d love a simple way to see when I first discovered an artist. The idea is an Artist OG Score that shows my first-listen date for each artist and how early that was compared with other listeners. Example: “First listened: Aug 14, 2021 — earlier than 92% of listeners.”

How it could work

  • Use my first stream timestamp from listening history.

  • Rank that date against other listeners’ first-listen dates to create a percentile and a small badge (True OG / Early / Mid / Late). Only display after a minimum number of plays (e.g., 5) to avoid one-off listens.

  • Optional: Display a brief timeline of my plays alongside the artist’s growth, when available.

Where it appears

  • On artist pages (beneath Follow),

  • In my profile under the “Discoveries” section,

  • In Wrapped/share cards (“Artists you found before the crowd”),

  • As a library filter/sort (“Earliest discovered”).

Privacy and control

  • Entirely opt-in with the ability to hide the badge or date at any time.

Why it helps

  • Celebrates discovery, encourages following/saving, and gives fans something fun to share.

  • Clear success metrics: increased artist-page visits, follows/saves, and shares.

This turns a core Spotify moment—finding artists early—into something visible, personal, and rewarding.
