Building a portable device that can connect to Spotify in WI-FI home

Dear Spotify Team,

I am a parent of a 13-year-old who loves music and enjoys exploring new songs and artists. As part of our Family Spotify Plan, I want to provide her with a safe and convenient way to access music and podcasts over our home Wi-Fi.

However, we are finding it challenging to find a device that meets our needs. She doesn’t have a smartphone, and we don’t want to purchase a device that runs on Android or supports third-party apps like YouTube or TikTok. Our concern is ensuring her access is limited to music and podcasts only, so we can feel confident letting her use the device independently, even at night, without worry about inappropriate or distracting content.

Currently, devices like Mighty cater to parents like us, but it lacks a screen, which makes it difficult for her to engage more deeply with her music—for example, reading lyrics or discovering new songs and artists. A device dedicated to Spotify with basic functionality, like browsing playlists and lyrics, but without broader internet access or app support, would be the perfect solution for families.

I know this might sound a bit old-fashioned, but as a parent, I simply want to create a safe environment for her to enjoy music without the risk of exposure to undesirable videos or apps. It would mean the world to families like ours if Spotify could help bridge this gap.

Thank you for considering this suggestion, and I would love to hear your thoughts or if there’s an existing solution I might not be aware of.

Kind regards,

Emmanuel R. ( France)
