DJ interactivity - Thumbs up/thumbs down to influence the AIs algorithm

I would love to see more interactivity with the DJ.

For about 2 weeks straight the DJ was just playing different types of metal for me and while I enjoy that I listen all day at work and I need a change of pace throughout the days

If I "like" a song it gets added to my liked song list and sometime I would just like to provide feedback directly to the AI like a "Great song choice, play some more like this" instead of pressing the AI button and making it 'Switch it up a bit' by playing some more metal
to implement this a simple thumbs up/ thumbs down icon that only influences the AIs algorithm would be all you need.  It could even be built upon more buy a double thumbs up/down to indicate I really like/dislike this band or song but I like the genre.  The reason for this is sometimes I get a song that I am really enjoying a lot and the very next song just doesn't hit for me.  I don't want to hit the button and bring the AI in to change it up because im liking the genre but not that song.  while you could argue that skipping the song works that way maybe im skipping a song that I dont like at that time but its still a good song, I still want to hear it just not now.

having a little more influence over the AI would be greatly appreciated.  I typically listen to it all day, but when all it offers me is metal, and im wanting some rock, pop, EDM, dance, 80 rock, or indie I have to go out and search playlists for music.

I feel implementing a simple thumbs up/down would be much more beneficial to the User, the AI, and Spotify as a whole to help the AI learn individual preferences, and more capable of getting you the right song at the right time

Hey! It looks like your suggestion is growing up fast and it's amazing! We are going to change its status to 'Good Suggestion' now and we hope it continues being supported by more and more users.
Thanks again for your suggestion. We really appreciate it 🙂

I literally hunted down this section for this exact thing. Firstly, there are genres I don't actively listen to, so I'd like them not to just sprinkle it on as a whole section. In a hour long session I had Kpop as its own section twice. I don't think I've listened to more than 1 Kpop song, ever. But also there is music in my likes and different playlists that I have to be in a very specific mood to listen to. These are NOT songs I wanna just have thrust at me on a random day. I adore the DJ, and it reminding me of some songs I haven't heard in a while, or never knew about. It's definitely given me some songs I didn't know existed, but ended up really liking. But, I'd like a like system to be able to tell it, "yes, play more of this" or "I'm not a fan of this being in the rotation."

I know that the DJ feature is still in beta testing and could change depending on user feedback. That said, the DJ threw in artists that I don't care for at all and would never listen to them in the first place. Worse, they are outside the genres I like. Why throw in R&B or hard rock for someone who likes only classical music?

I know what I like and always listen to the same artists and music.

The DJ did some throwback to songs which listened to a lot several months and even years ago. That throwback was nice, but don't give me artists I hate. Musical tastes are very subjective and for someone who knows what they want. Therefore, keep tuning the DJ to look at what the user always listens to, not "will you take a chance on these other artists?"

The new DJ option is interesting, suggesting new music, but as it does a really terrible job of suggesting music that I like it really need he option to dislike a track. How hard can this be? This will aid in finding relevant music for the listener. Look at how well Pandora solves this, but Spotify has never been able to crack the code to suggestions IMO. The same goes for playing "similar songs" to those in your playlist. It never seems to be able to figure out what I like and not.

I looked for and found the community page for Spotify specifically for this idea - would love to be able to tell DJ to keep going as is. It seems it plays 5-6 songs in one genre and then switches to a completely different thing. In itself, its a good feature, but sometimes i'd like to tell it to continue as its really hitting the spot!

I'm basically just wanting to make a statement that the AI DJ on a Friday night at 8pm will want to play me relaxation frequency music that I use during working hours.

It's just not OK.

I expect a premium product, which knows what type of a mood the person requesting the DJ services would be in on a Friday evening.

I would like the DJ to play me some thing that I know of that I've listened to that I've liked and then I would like the DJ to introduce me to something that I might like and then I would like the DJ to place something that I do like and then I want the DJ to introduce me to something that I might like. This is an AI premium product.

I would also like to be able to choose the **bleep**, age and nationality of the DJ.

Another echoing the need for awareness of when music is appropriate. I have extremely broad tastes, but the DJ should know better than to play sleep and relaxation music in the middle of the day. And if I've skipped 8 sets in a row, I'm probably angry and you need to speed it up. There's absolutely no control for its stupidity, and that's such a ridiculous oversight. Hire some people with actual vision.

Also, if that DJ says "vibe" one more time, I'm gonna slap someone. All music is "a vibe". That's what music is, idiots. Stop trying to be relevant to the point of inanity. And stop making self-fulfilling music trends. IF A SONG IS SKIPPED BEFORE 30 OR FIVE SECONDS, STOP REINFORCING IT AND RE-RE-RE-INFORCING IT BY PLAYING IT OVER AND OVER AND ADDING IT TO EVERY AUTO PLAYLIST! It's like this with so many tracks, and auto playlist grouping is nonsensical. German industrial with California hippie rock and international downtempo in the same playlist??!

Fully agree with this topic. I really like the idea of the DJ, but then it gets in these random segments of playing genres that I absolutely despise. And there's NO way to stop it. I'd like to do 4 things:

1. be able to thumbs down stuff so it can learn to stop playing things I don't like.

2. have the ability to completely block artists and genres altogether. Imo, this would be a wonderful feature for the entirety of spotify as a whole because even things on the homepage recommended are pretty annoying a lot of the time.

3. have an option to customize how the dj behaves on playback. I feel like it plays the same songs over and over that are most popular. I'd like DJ to help with discovery, so playing more obscure songs in genres I like, so I can increase the amount of liked songs I have saved.

4. have at least some sort of play history, even if super temporary. Like, even just being able to see the last 5 songs so I can thumbs up/down those songs would be incredibly helpful.

Whole heartedly agree with this feature. It'll be hittin things perfect then just outta the blue it's play a genre that I NEVER listen to or have in my song lists or favourites. Which is confusing. A way to say "hey buddy, this wasn't a fit" with a thumbs up or down would be perfect.

I just clicked the icon to say, "Um. GREAT genre choice and song selection, and keep it up!" but I "changed it up a bit," sending the opposite message. I'm not asking you to be Pandora, but how can I teach your algorithm what I like?
