Free audiobook listening time for all Premium members

While I'm grateful for the move to bring audiobooks to Spotify, the exclusive benefit of free audiobooks for the "plan manager" in duo and family memberships seems unjust. It diminishes the premium experience for other members who pay the same amount as their friends and family but don't enjoy the full premium benefits.

I acknowledge the cost-effectiveness of duo and family memberships, but the solution to a fairer listening experience could be to distribute the 15 hours among all members in your party. This way, duo members, for instance, would get 7.5 hours free—a reasonable compromise for the reduced cost.

It ensures fairness to all users and gives users the option to customise their audiobook time based on their plan size and budget.

I second this! I’m the plan manager for my family, but I HATE audiobooks. I just tune out and lose track, I can’t stand podcasts for the same reason.

But my husband and two stepchildren are all dyslexic, and my husband in particular was very excited to start using this feature! He has a whole list of books that he’s wanted to listen to…..only to be EXTREMELY confused and disappointed when it turns out that he can’t access them AT ALL?? Not even for a shorter amount of time like singular Premium accounts can!

Please change this, my husband was VERY excited about this feature.

There is NO Reason why duo premium should not allow audiobook access for both members. If I am being honest, its pretty stupid. The only reason I signed up for duo is for my wife and I to have the SAME ACCESS. Spotify, you need to do better and change this ASAP. Bad bad BAD feature.

I buy the family plan. And I know that everyone having access to audiobook hours wouldn’t be possible. But I (plan manager) don’t use them, buy my aunty (who is on my family plan) loves them, but she can’t use them. Which is really disappointing.

I would suggest being able to (as the manger) give your audiobook hours to another member of the plan.

I'm very disappointed to not be able to enjoy the content with my wife since I'm only a member of the plan and have no access to the audiobook she's listening. I hope the feature to allow every member of the premium account to enjoy audiobooks make to the service soon.

I have just come across this issue of audiobooks being available to the plan manager only on a Premium Duo plan.

We are both keen book readers and it is very disappointing to learn that only ONE of us can listen to the books listed on the platform ... without incurring additional cost i suspect.

It is a disappointing customer brand experience from the perspective of subscribing to a PREMIUM DUO product but only one subscriber can benefit from this particular resource available.

As others mention, the suggested remedy to cancel subscriptions and re-sign up with different plan manager listed, whilst effective, is not what i would come to expect from a market leading professional platform such as Spotify.

I would ask Spotify to reconsider why audiobooks is only available to the plan manager (in my particular case, for a Premium Duo account) when both both of us subscribe to use the "Premium product" or at least explain the reasoning behind why this decision to limit plan access to audiobooks was taken ... I look forward to your feedback....

I have Premium family account. I am the plan manager. I listen only to music.

My wife is a member of my family plan. She listens mostly to audiobooks.

She has to use my account to listen to audiobooks, which is a problem when we both want to use Spotify at the same time.

So I plan to do this:

I remove her (and our 2 children) from my family plan.

She sets up a premium family plan.

I cancel my family plan.

She invites me and our 2 children to her family plan.

Now she is the plan manager, and can listen to audiobooks on her own account, and doesn't have to login to my account.

It would be easier for Spotify to allow to change the plan manager, but they wont allow that.

So will this work instead?

Will this work?

Hello,

seeing as I am paying £15pm (£180 a year) it would make sense that both the people in the duo account have access to all the same features. Currently only one of us can access the audio books this not only doesn’t make sense that both do not have the same access but it is down right greedy on Spotify’s part. I am already paying a premium price for two people so I would expect that we get the same without you increasing your prices.

The hours limited to one person is crazy. Why is it not even an option to get others hours without getting them their own individual membership? Also how are only 15 hours included each month? I would be happy for a Premium plus Audiobooks Subscription with a higher fee as long as audiobooks are for everyone on the premium account.
