Game studios often use extended periods of silence to make their music more impactful. Spotify could add in a slider that allows the user to have periods of silence between tracks. This is so when one track finishes you can enjoy the ambient sounds of the game you're playing before another one comes on. This would increase in game immersion and give the listener a break from back to back tracks, especially if they have curated a playlist for a certain genre of game (fantasy for example). The slider could set a range of time you'd like the silence to be so it keeps it somewhat randomised.

It would also have applications when walking/driving/chilling at home reading a book.
