I am planning to cancel my Spotify subscription by the end of the year. I have reached the limit of the number of playlists you can display on a public profile. As someone who shares and advertises my playlists on social media this is extremely disappointing and frustrating.
In addition, I wish Spotify offered some kind of "music library" I could shuffle thru all my songs I've saved on my account. As a teenager, I would have my music as mp3s on my phone. My music player app on my phone could shuffle all 3000~ songs to play OR I could listen to playlists I had created. I made the switch to Spotify once I had my own income as I was running out of space on my phone, as well as it made adding new artists to my collection easier. My work around for Spotify not having "A music library" was to have a playlist functioning as one. However, I have now hit the 10,000 limit for songs in a playlist, which is the central reason for cancelling my subscription.
Moreover, I have an extreme hatred for you adding generative AI to Spotify; as Generative AI is exceedingly harmful to the environment. If Spotify were to remove Generative AI from all aspects of their sites and apps, and make a statement condemning its use, I would definitely not cancel my subscription. I know my friends would switch their subscriptions to Spotify over other music subscriptions services (many of my friends use YouTube Music) as a large amount of people my age care deeply for the environment.
All updates order the last 5 years you have made to the UI both on Windows PC and Android have made them worse and more impractical to use. My main example on Windows PC is the change to the connect to device button. I enjoy having the right tab open to my queue. In the past, the connect to device button was a small pop-up. However an update changed this to be a whole window on the right tab. Meaning each time I switch between listening on my phone to my PC, I have to reopen the queue window. On Android, I have to examples. The playlist button at on the bottom bar is a waste of space, I have never once used it, even as someone who creates a lot of playlist. It makes the app very cluttered. Another change I dislike is hiding settings, history, and notifications behind multiple presses. I preferred when these buttons were at the top of the screen on the home page, as I use them a lot.
