Listen Everywhere
Since January 1, 2025, Spotify’s recommendation system has become less accurate for many users. Genres that users actually listen to are no longer properly recognized in listening statistics and personalized recommendations.
For example, I mainly listen to Uzbek Pop, Tajik Pop, and Persian Pop, but Spotify now recommends unrelated European, Turkish, and Arabic genres in the “Made For You” section and personalized playlists. Because of incorrect genre detection, recommendations no longer reflect real listening habits like before.
I suggest making genre one of the main priorities in the recommendation algorithm again. Spotify should focus more on users’ real favorite genres and long-term listening history to improve recommendation accuracy.
Suggested improvements: — restore previously recognized user genres; — improve genre classification accuracy; — remove unrelated genres from user statistics; — improve personalized playlists and discovery; — improve recommendations for Central Asian and Persian Pop listeners.
This would help make Spotify recommendations more accurate and personalized again.
