Make Spotify DJ less repetitive

I really like the Spotify DJ concept and the system of switching "set" if I'm not in the mood for a specific set, however, for me it's extremely repetitive. Spotify DJ seems to think that I only want to listen to maybe 20 songs and shuffles these again and again. I would really have liked if Spotify DJ made me discover new artists and songs. If I liked the song/artist, I could give the DJ a thumbs up, and vice versa. Mix things up a bit please, there are more than 10 million artists on Spotify, surely the DJ could be more creative in its suggestions.

For me, DJ is just shuffle of my liked songs with commentary.  Its become painful, playing the same songs over and over again.  I can't force it to play new music and the inability to change genres, like and dislike songs has become a deal breaker.  I used to be a loyal DJ user but I just can't anymore.

So many good suggestions here, and surely this is so easy for Spotify to fix - but it's becoming redundant.

Please God make it less cheesy and OTT American

It's just playing the same songs for the artist I'm interested but why not play something different from them or mix more often not only sometimes it's just boring a good concept but badly executed.

The AI DJ has a very annoying habit of playing the same song or songs over and over in in different sessions during a given week. I have thousands of liked songs and would like to be able to set a rule to prevent the DJ from repeating any song for a week or two.

Maybe I am missing something, but is there a way to shuffle up the DJ so it stops playing the same three songs every time I open it??? If I wanted to listen to what I have been listening to, I would have listened to it? Once I skip past all of the "these are on frequent rotation because DJ rotates them" I actually really like the DJ's suggestions, but this makes me so annoyed!!!

AI DJ is a really cool idea and has the potential to be a great feature. But there’s one big problem: it keeps playing the same tracks over and over, and there’s almost no way to personalize it to your own tastes. Sometimes, I find myself skipping 10–15 songs in a row just to hear something new. Most days, I end up pressing “skip” more than actually listening — and that kind of defeats the purpose.

Here are a few suggestions that I think could make AI DJ much better and more customizable:

  • Add a special “Novelty Mode” where priority is given to tracks outside your listening history, including lesser-known artists and fresh releases.

  • Let users control how “experimental” the DJ gets (for example, with a slider: from familiar to totally new).

  • Add a “I’ve already heard this!” button, so the system knows you want something truly different.

  • Make “Show More Like This” and “Surprise Me!” buttons easy to access, so exploring new music is simple and fun.

  • Improve how DJ handles new genres: if a user listens to an unusual style a few times, it should keep exploring that direction, not return immediately to the usual stuff.

  • Let users customize the repeat interval for tracks — for example, add an option to avoid repeating the same song for at least a week or even a month. This would help keep playlists fresh and avoid “playlist fatigue.”

Please consider giving users more ways to customize this feature.
Right now, AI DJ floods me with tracks I’ve already listened to today, yesterday, and the day before. Even if the song is great, hearing it every single day quickly turns it from a favorite into something I want to avoid for weeks.

Thanks for your attention!

I do find that it gets quite repetitive. Especially if you are only listening for a short amount of time daily. It also gets funny when it says, "You listened to this song seven days in a row last week." and I can't help but think, "Only because you keep playing it! Give me something else!"

Exactly! There bands that i do not listen to that DJ plays for me because I
listen or has Mr HipJ might say "been vibing to". The only reason I been
vibing to it it because dumbass DJ played it.

It's frustrating because the DJ says things like, "here's what you've been listening to a lot lately" - but the only reason I listened to it is because the DJ has played it so often.
