New way to change songs number in the playlist

I'm creating a playlist with a lot of songs in it. The thing about this playlist is that it goes through songs in order by Month and year released, going from 1952 to 2025. The playlist has 427 songs as of writing this, but having to reorder the songs by scrolling takes a while, especially when the playlist gets longer.

My Idea is to have an option to change the song's number. So, say I add a new song to the playlist. It will start with the number 428. But if I could just tap on the number 428 and then write 57, then it should push all other songs up by one, so the song on 57 would become 58, and song number 427 would become the new 428.

This idea was suggested before however has been closed due to low response. Basically, I would like to be able to sort the songs on my playlist by putting in the sequence number. For example, if I have a playlist of 100 songs and I want to move the 999th song to 2nd, instead of dragging it all the way from the bottom to the top, the alternative would be to click the 999th song, then key in the sequence number intended to be sorted, which is "2", then the song will automatically move to the 2nd place without the hassle.

Having to drag around songs in a big playlist to change the order is very cumbersome and time consuming. It would be great if we could simply right click a track and have the option to enter the "playlist position" to easily put the song on a specific position in the playlist.

I had a similar idea to IpI, I would like to designate the "top" or "bottom" of the queue when adding a song or group of songs to the queue. Thank you!

This is convenient especially if you have a playlist wherein you want the newest track to be on top. Hope to get this in future updates.

Pleasseeeeee implement this! This idea has been suggested many many times and it’s such a simple feature.

Spotify As Is:

Currently on Spotify, while i’m listening to a song in a large playlist and I come across a separate song that I would like to play next, I have to use the “Add to queue” feature. This adds the selected song to the bottom of the long queue.

I then have to drag the song all the way to the top of the queue so that it can play after the current song I’m listening to. This is a long manual process that should be automated.

Solution:

The best solution is to add a “Play Next” feature which immediately adds the song to the top of the queue so that it can play next without users having to drag up their long song queue list.

This is such a basic function that nearly all other streamers have, it’s intuitive and simple yet a huuuge headache to work around in Spotify especially on mobile!
