User-Prompted, AI-created playlists/queues

This feature would be very cool on its own, and even cooler to be applicable within already created playlists. If there was an AI prompt that users could use to describe what they want to listen to and have a playlist or queue created for them. The key words could be fairly data-driven like release date, genre, etc. but the really cool part to me is AI interpreting descriptive words about feel of the music, lyrical content, etc. Perhaps even including a length of time you want the playlist/queue to contain in terms of song lengths added together.

Example: within my playlist with a wide range of genres in it, I want to have the AI queue 2 hours of songs that ‘feel like a sunny day.’

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE SPOTIFY AND AI TOGETHER TO GENERATE PLAYLISTS BASED ON A VIBE, NOT JUST KEYWORDS LIKE IT DOES NOW. SOMETHING LIKE "90's GRUNGE VAMPIRE EMO" OR "GET THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT WORK". THINK THIS WOULD BE A GREAT FEATURE AND UNIQUE TO ANY OTHER PROVIDER!

Dear Spotify Team,

My name is Ömer Edip Bıltır, and I’m an electronic music producer and materials engineer from Turkey with a deep passion for artificial intelligence, sound design, and application development. Over the years, I’ve contributed to a number of successful music projects including Ibrahim & Omer, Botanist, Alvas, and many more as a ghost producer. I’m reaching out to share a unique business idea that I believe could open up a new frontier for Spotify and redefine how users interact with music.

As you are aware, AI has rapidly begun to shape the creative industries. While many artists feel anxious about its potential to replace human creativity, I believe AI can also be a powerful partner—if used thoughtfully. Inspired by this vision, I’ve developed a concept I call SpotyfAI.

What is SpotyfAI?

SpotyfAI would be a new AI-powered extension of Spotify—either as a separate app or a built-in feature—that allows users to generate playlists or even full music experiences by simply describing the mood, genre, or scenario they have in mind. For example, a user could type:

“Create a dreamy electronic playlist for late-night focus”
and SpotyfAI would generate a curated list of tracks that precisely matches that vibe.

By leveraging Spotify’s vast dataset and AI’s potential to understand user intent and sonic qualities, this tool could help:

  • Businesses and commercial clients Can create background music perfectly tailored to their brand identity, ambiance, or event themes.

  • Coffee shops could generate cozy, royalty-free lo-fi playlists that match the atmosphere they want to create for their customers.

  • Fashion brands could design high-energy runway or showroom soundtracks using custom prompts, without worrying about licensing issues.

  •  Gyms and fitness studios could produce motivating, genre-specific mixes aligned with their class types (e.g., HIIT, yoga, cycling).

  • Hotels or spas could offer signature soundscapes that enhance their guests' experience and reinforce their brand identity.

  • Retail stores and showrooms could build unique sonic experiences that reflect seasonal campaigns or store themes. These AI-generated playlists could even be paired with royalty-free music options or user-owned tracks, ensuring both legal compliance and creative freedom.

  • Everyday users discover music that fits their emotional state or specific moment without scrolling for hours.

  • Aspiring artists explore references and inspiration efficiently.

This would be much more than a recommendation engine—it would be a creative collaborator.

Why Me?

While I don't have direct experience in AI development, I bring:

  • A strong creative vision and technical understanding as a music producer and engineer.

  • A track record of innovative ideas and successful collaborations.

  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a passionate team.

I would love the opportunity to work alongside a small team at Spotify to help bring this idea to life—whether through prototyping, research, or creative consulting. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would be open to discussing this further.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I’m excited about the future of music, and I’d love to be part of shaping it with Spotify.

Warm regards,

Ömer Edip Bıltır

Creating playlists is one of the most awesome or even the best feature in Spotify.

It would be more awesome if we could generate playlists faster for special occasions like birthdays, travels etc with help of AI

The ability to use AI to access specific playlists or all saved songs, not just 'Liked Songs' or listening history, to help you consolidate and refine your music.

My idea is to create a “chat” button next to the search bar. This button will provide a feature where users can describe what they are feeling or even a different song or rhythm they would like to discover.

[ Example: Today I'm bored, I'd like to listen to something different. Like Brazilian music, but in French and romantic. ]

>> Then the AI will bring up a more accurate search based on the user's request.

Why?
It's simple: users search for music according to their current state, whether emotional, situational, or spiritual.

Rhythms, cultures, languages, and other musical characteristics influence this, and being able to do this mix within an AI would be excellent for the user experience.
