Sort songs in playlists by their BPM (Beats Per Minute)

I have a feature suggestion that could significantly enhance the user experience on Spotify – the ability to sort songs in playlists by their BPM (Beats Per Minute).

The idea is to let users sort songs in either ascending or descending BPM order. This would make it easy to start a playlist with the slowest songs and gradually build up to faster ones – or the other way around, depending on the desired flow.

This feature would make it much more convenient to create playlists with a natural and dynamic energy progression, without the need to manually check and rearrange each song’s BPM. Currently, this process can be very time-consuming and frustrating, involving a lot of listening and manual reordering.

For example, imagine creating a playlist for a party that lasts around six hours – that’s roughly 100 songs. After selecting the songs, the playlist would need to be structured in a way that builds the right mood: starting with more relaxed tracks and gradually increasing the tempo throughout the evening. With a BPM sorting feature, this could be done automatically in seconds.

I believe this function would be appreciated by many users – whether they’re creating playlists for working out, partying, relaxing, or any other activity where tempo matters.

Best regards
