[Partnerships] Spotify on Apple Watch

Please create an app for the Apple watch that allows users to change songs and playlists from their watch. Perfect for working out and the busy commute.

Updated on 2018-11-13

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea.

We're pleased to confirm that you can now DJ from your wrist with Spotify on Apple Watch.

> Play, pause, and skip, both music and podcasts.
> Control the volume.
> Get info about what’s playing.
> Play from Recently Played.
> Save your favorites.
> Use Spotify Connect to play to another device.

To get Spotify on Apple Watch you’ll need an iPhone 5 or above, running iOS 10.0 and above, and an Apple Watch on watchOS 4.0 and above.

We have some more info on the Support site: https://support.spotify.com/listen_everywhere/smart_watches/apple-watch/
and the Newsroom:
https://newsroom.spotify.com/2018-11-13/spotify-for-apple-watch-helps-you-keep-time-with-the-music/.

Many thanks!

Can you at least comment with a list of the primary reasons that prevent the development of an Apple Watch app? You have tons of customers who would love to take Spotify with them on runs, swims, and hikes without the need to bring a phone. This is a no-brainer, slam dunk, sure thing and many are frustrated and disappointed with the lack of reasoning or response.

As many others said before me:

If Spotify doesn‘t make an Apple Watch app i will definitely cancel my premium membership for I got the Watch to listen to music while i‘m running. I won‘t illegaly download the songs I listen to and I won‘t by them. That only leaves me apple music where I can save my songs on my Watch.

Moreover it‘s the same price which is only but a disadvantage for Spotify!

I read they have an exclusive deal with Google for a Watch app.

Whatever the reason, communicate with your customers. That’s why this forum is here, RIGHT?!

This is so insulting to your paying customers.

Have been following this thread since I posted and find it very disappointing there has been no detailed response from Spotify. As a result I’ve cancelled my family subscription this evening as I fear this is the only way to get any action. Vote with your feet, hit Spotify in the pocket, then we might see some action. Join me comrades 😂

Yup, I also cancelled my Premium Family Subscription after getting the new Watch. Partly due to lack of Apple Watch app, but actually even more due to complete lack of communication from Spotify on this issue. Now on Apple Music and finding it to be quite ok, with Apple Watch and Siri support really excellent. I moved my playlists with Stamp for iOS which worked well. Some manual work was required in addition though to get the last songs correctly moved.

All in all would have preferred to have stayed with Spotify, but it’s so obvious that music needs to be available on wearables, and especially Apple Watch. Without this, Spotify would simply not be available in many of the situations I would like to listen to music.

Edit: One drawback of Apple Music that I’ve noticed so far is the lack of anything similar to Spotify Connect. That’s really an excellent Spotify service.

with the LTE Apple Watch, this is a must. Please make an app for Apple Watch that supports LTE streaming!

+ 3 people here with this request. I really like Spotify but lack of apps for watch and Apple TV might make me force to go back to Apple Music.

Really should make one for the app... millions of customers phone free on S3 as well streaming on LTE...

Now that cellular service is available for Apple watch it seems almost juvenile to keep pushing this aside. Looks like the only option is to switch services 😞

Hi, long time Spotify customer here. But soon to update to Apple Watch series 3. The motivator here is to “free myself of phone” but still get some key features - Especially music. I don’t want to be a loyalty terrorist here but given Apple have now completely copied your product and are offering it at matching price point it could spell our parting of ways. I keep my fingers crossed but otherwise, thank you for the music.
